This tournament was a fantastic showcase of all of the talent present in the midwest, many of which will receive a major uptick in recruiting! Be on the lookout for the rest of my coverage from this event!
Drew Burau 2022 6’5 Minnesota Crossfire Barker- Howard Lake Waverly High School
Drew is an athletic stretch 5 with a fantastic ability to stretch the floor. His long arms allow him to shoot over the top of most of his defenders, and when he is left alone he is fairly consistent. He dominates on the glass with relentless energy and tenacity fighting for positioning under the rim. He displayed great strength under the basket, so I would like to see more work around the rim.
Gavin Falk 2022 6’7 Magic 16U Jon- Edina High School MN
Gavin is a strong finisher down low, he had a play with two defenders fouling him still got the bucket with contact. He has great leaping ability for his size. His tree trunk-like legs allow him to sky for rebounds. He is intelligent drawing contact and gets to the line a ton and is a fairly reliable shooter. He is an effective finisher but needs to get smarter with the ball in the post, he brings the ball down to low and minimizes his size effectiveness by allowing weaker and smaller players a chance at the ball.
Joshua Guen 2022 6’4 Minnesota Lighting Ellerbusch- Austin High School
Victor is a forward with tremendous size and strength. He dominates around the rim with ease, collecting rebounds and outmuscling defenders to get thunderous dunks and soft finishes in the paint. He has an impressive ability to stretch the floor and put the ball on the floor to get to the rim. He has an impressive pull-up jumper for his size. Victor has all the tools to dominate at the next level.
Evan Johnson 2022 6’7 4:13 Athletics- Osseo High School
Evan is an enormous forward who is smart at keeping the ball up high and really bullying players with his size around the rim. He is an intelligent player on the glass, boxing out opponents very well and seems to know where the ball will bounce. I would like to see more improvement in his agility and ability to put pressure on the defense in more ways such as stretching out his range or increasing his ability to put the ball on the floor.
Justin Wohlers Justin Wohlers 6'6" | PF Lake City | 2022 State MN 2022 6’6 Minnesota Lightning Ellerbush Lake City High School
Justin has a great foot speed and agility and showed great athleticism at getting to the rim. His ability to finish in traffic and through defenders was very impressive. He has all the tools to be an effective two-way rim runner, displaying great defensive instincts and control on the boards. I would like to see more improvement in his ball control because he has all the tools to be an oversized wing that can dominate in the paint.
