For most this means a year or two of junior varsity basketball, but for a select few, we believe that we will see them make an early impact on the varsity level.
Lejeune HS Guard Derrick Benbow: There is no doubt in my mind that this young prospect will make a big impact for Lejeune! Averaging double figures next season won’t be a difficult task for him as he teams up with standout Senior Guard Jaylon Armstrong Jaylon Armstrong 5'10" | CG Lejuene | 2021 State NC . Benbow is a crafty guard that can score the ball at a nice rate and already stands at 6 feet tall.
Southview Wing Ari Fulton: He was dominant during his time at South View Middle and will look to make an impact on the high school level. His height and long wingspan are definitely physical tools that will help him transition and he has solid athleticism. Knocking down shots consistently and attacking with his off hand will truly be the keys to his success.
EE Smith HS Guard Johnathan Williams: The Golden Bulls will be looking for some more firepower next season and we feel that John can help to fill that void. He can score the ball at a nice rate, rebounds it well and you can play him at multiple positions on the court.
East Carteret HS Guard Shamel Baker: With EC losing one of their starting Guards to transfer, he will have an opportunity to come in and play early on. He knows how to get in the paint but using his quickness to make plays for teammates and himself.
Northwood Temple Guard Amaree Bethel: He’s a prime example of what can happen when you put in the time and work. Last season he played very sparingly, but he’s put in a ton of work since the season ended and he’s been playing well during Grassroots season.
Greenfield School Guard Jordan Vick: This youngster has scary potential ! He’s already hit the ground running in July, putting together some outstanding performances at multiple events. He’s quick, crafty and can flat out score the ball in bunches.
