These prospect would have gotten the attention of college coaches, media, and scouts if they were playing grassroots hoops this summer. Here’s a list of the players I think are must see players in this area. The Sonoma, Napa Counties, and other areas in the Northern parts of NorCal.
Dom Girish 6’3 Point Guard, Sonoma Valley HS. (Sonoma, CA)
Girish is a 4.1 gpa student athlete. He earned first team all-league selection in the Vine Valley League, he led his team in scoring 19.2 ppg, and stls 1.6. He had a season high 33 pts which included 8/11 from 3 pt land, he shot 80-percent from the free throw line. Girish is solid long armed impact prospect who will continue to raise his game in the next 2 years. He has all the tools to be a top notch player in this area. He’s on my Wright’s player watch list.
Will Heimbrodt 6’6 Forward Sir Francis Drake HS ( San Anselmo, CA)
Heimbrodt is solid body two sport athlete (baseball) who’s very active on the court. A physical player who doesn’t mind the contact at all. He has a good inside game with nice strong finishing moves inside. He’s willing to bang the boards, run the floor in transition and will dunk on you if you give him an opening. He’s capable of stepping out and knocking down 3’s.
Nolan Bessire Nolan Bessire 6'9" | PF Montgomery | 2022 State CA-N 6’8 Forward, Montgomery HS (Santa Rosa, CA)
Bessire has upped his game this past season, he’s now a rising prospect who coaches are inquiring about. The big fella has long arms and moves pretty good in the post area, he’s become more efficient on the block. He’s a rim protector, and actively pursues rebounds, his long strides get him up the court in a hurry. He’s improved his ball handling, and shooting on the perimeter.
Graham MacDonald 6’8 Post Healdsburg HS (Healdsburg, CA)
MacDonald is still developing as a player, he looks like he’ll grow a few more inches. A solid body post player with good fundamentals. He’s not fast but he moves okay. He makes good contributions on the court. He moves his feet, boxes out, sets solid screens, his long arm are extended away from the body. He’ll rebound in his space, and change some shots on defense.
Andrew Pengel 6’3 Guard, Rancho Cotate HS (Rohnert Park, CA)
Pengel established himself as one of the top Sophomore scorers in league. He earned 2nd team all-league honors in the North Bay- Redwood League, was his teams leading scorer with an average of 17.4 ppg. A good all around player on offense who can find his own shot, on the drive, knocking down mid-range and three pointers when left open.
Tyler Oda 5’10 Point Guard, Napa HS (Napa, CA)
A well conditioned athlete who rarely comes off the court for his team. He was the front man in full and half court traps. With good speed and lateral movement he was constantly applying pressure, and forcing the action. A good ball handler and playmaker on offense. He has good vision and passing skills, he can add a few buckets along the way he averaged 10.2 ppg, and 3.6 asts.
Kyle Winters 6’3 Shooting Guard, Marin Catholic HS (Kentfield, CA)
A tough minded prospect who can generate point for himself and teammates. The hard driving guard can finish strong in the paint with either hands, he handles the contact well. He’ll hit 3 or 4 three pointers a game if you leave him unattended. He has good size as a guard and helped on the boards with 3.5 a game. His point per game were 13.5.
