Midwest Showdown: Sunday Standouts
On Sunday at the Midwest Showdown, there were a number of Wisconsin prospects that separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Below, I list eight prospects that impressed on Championship Sunday:
Jack Rose Jack Rose 6'5" | SG Westosha Central | 2022 State #213 Nation WI — SG — Wisconsin Playground Club 16U
Rose doesn’t need to score the ball to have a positive impact on the game for his team. But, when his shots are falling, the shooting guard is elite. On Sunday morning, Rose was outstanding for Wisconsin Playground Club. He started out hot, scoring 10 of his team’s first 15 points. The Westosha Central standout may not have the athletic ability that some of his peers have, however, he always gets the job done. It has been fun to watch Rose play on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer.
Jeffery Brazziel Jeffery Brazziel 6'4" | SF Martin Luther | 2022 #159 Nation AZ — SF — Wisconsin Playground Club 16U
Multiple scouts have been very high on Brazziel since he impressed last spring/summer. And after he missed the entire school season due to the WIAA’s transfer rules, I was looking forward to evaluating the star small forward in Appleton. As a prospect, he checks all of the boxes. Brazziel is tremendous as an isolation scorer. When the Milwaukee Destiny star wants to score the ball, there are not too many things that defenders can do to stop him. At the Midwest Showdown, he also displayed his smooth outside jump shot. This summer, Brazziel has made it clear that he is a high major talent.
Andrew Keller Andrew Keller 6'5" | PF Waunakee | 2022 State WI — PF — Wisconsin Playground Club 16U
Keller — who is a star wide receiver/tight end on the football field for Waunakee — played really good for WPC in a blowout victory over the Chicago Demons. The 6-foot-5 forward was great around the rim. He had multiple dunks and two and-1’s. Keller also rebounded the ball well. The PF could be in for a breakout junior season in 2020-21.
Sam Ludwig Sam Ludwig 6'2" | PG New Berlin Eisenhower | 2021 State WI — PG — JH1 Elite 17U
Going up against a loaded Wisconsin Playground 17U squad, many prospects would flinch. Not Ludwig. The point guard didn’t back down and went right at the stars of PGC. He was able to use his strength and creativity to finish at the rim. Ludwig scored 14 points to lead JH1 Elite to a huge upset win over Playground.
Zac Johnson Zac Johnson 6'3" | SG River Falls | 2021 State WI — SG — Wisconsin Playmakers 17U
Johnson continued to prove that he is one of the best shooters in the state of Wisconsin. In a big win for the Wisconsin Playmakers, the shooting guard knocked down a handful of threes, blocked a shot, and showed that he can also score at the rim. When left open, Johnson is almost automatic from distance.
Micah Causey Micah Causey 5'9" | PG St. Thomas More | 2022 WI — PG — Wisconsin RAP 16U
I love the way that Causey plays the game of basketball. He is undersized (5-foot-9), but the point guard still plays the game with no fear. When Causey gets into the paint, he immediately becomes very dangerous. He can either finish strong at the rim or use his vision to pass out to an open teammate. After a great sophomore season, Causey’s stock continues to rise.
Greyson Pritzl Greyson Pritzl 6'3" | SG West Allis Central | 2022 State WI — SG — Wisconsin RAP 16U
Pritzl was one of the most gifted scorers that played in Appleton this weekend. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is money from three and also very good when driving to the rim. In his first two games of the weekend, Pritzl scored 54 points. In RAP’s third game, the SG wasn’t able to put up points as he did earlier, but he still was impressive. Heading into his junior season, Pritzl is a prospect to watch.

Brennan Timm Brennan Timm 6'5" | SF St. Johns Northwestern Military Academy | 2021 State WI — F — Wisconsin RAP 17U
I knew that Timm was really great as a rebounder and slasher. However, I didn’t know that the forward can consistently hit shots from three. In the first half of RAP’s tough loss to Minnesota Select, he knocked down two threes in the first half of play. Timm’s outside shooting touch plus his motor and effort make him a very good prospect.
