Here’s a look at some of the top Kansas wings in the 16U Division of the Midwest Grind Session (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):
Kaleb Becker Kaleb Becker 6'4" | SF Abilene | 2022 State KS , Mid Kansas, Abilene:
The 6-foot-4 Becker earned honorable mention 4A as a sophomore at Abilene. He moves and plays with the agility of a much smaller player, but he’s got the size to bully the opposition. He makes plays with his speed in the open court, scoring fast break buckets. He can post up or cut into the lane to score, and he’s got a good 3-point stroke. Look for Becker to make an even bigger name for himself this year.
Trent Duffey SSA White, Hayden:
Duffey is a hard-nosed 6-foot wing who plays with non-stop intensity. He doesn’t back down from bigger players and crashes the boards with intensity. He drives for scores or to kick to teammates, and draws fouls. He’s a versatile player for his size, willing to work in the lane, but able to also knock down shots behind the arc. His intensity is really evident on defense, where he’s always got his hands on an opponent, the ball or in the passing lane.
Marcelino Edwards, Perry Ellis 34, Sunrise:
Edwards is a gliding athlete with good versatility. At 6-foot-3, he’s a threat to score in the post, but has deep range. He can handle the ball in the open floor and under pressure. He is a hustler who will do the dirty work on defense.
Kyle Grill Kyle Grill 6'4" | CG Maize | 2022 State KS , Mid Kansas, Maize:
A prospect to watch breakout this year, the 6-foot-4 Grill is an elite athlete. He can jump and dunk, run the floor and overwhelm opponents with his strength, quickness and length. He’s got deep range too. He might be at his best slicing into the lane to catch and score. He is a good ball handler who drives downhill and draws fouls.
Chase Harris, B2B Elite, Wichita Heights:
Harris is listed as a 2023 grad. At 6-foot-2, he’s a tall player to have the open-court ball skills he’s got. He is an elite ball handler who makes impressive drives to the hole. He has a good stroke from deep and from the line and shoots good pull-up jumpers. But it’s his ability to handle the ball and attack defenses that are going to set him apart.
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , Kansas Hoggs, Seaman:
Henry is gaining experience taking the ball at defenses aggressively this summer. He is a 6-foot-3 driver who has his eyes up to kick to teammates. He’s a good ball handler and passer, so working on creating his own shots will only expand his game. His size and athleticism make him a tough matchup for defenses.
