Basketball is officially back. Check out who made the most of their opportunity at the LakePoint Live Showcase and has been named to our Breakout Guards list.

2022 6-2 SG [player_tooltip player_id="870202" first="Dylan" last="Wolle"] – Georgia Legacy – Sequoyah

Wolle has been the talk of the 16U division with his consistency and simplistic approach. He torched both the Atlanta Celtics and Atlanta All-Stars, averaging 20.5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, drilling 7 threes over the two games. Wolle is near automatic from deep and peppers defenses from the mid-range. He’s got a quick one-dribble pull-up to get to his spots and of course just like last week, has gotten to the rim and made plays in the lane. From what I’ve seen, I think Wolle is slightly ahead of where [player_tooltip player_id="868097" first="Jacksen" last="Greco"] (Mercer) was at the same age with his aggressiveness inside the three-point line. While he doesn’t quite attract as many free throw attempts as Greco did at his peak with his unorthodox shot, Wolle is well on his way to being the next big-time scorer at Sequoyah.

2021 5-8 PG Jamal Taylor – Team GA Magic – Hancock Central

Fresh off a state championship, Peanut was up to his old tricks again, racing the ball up and down the court and putting constant pressure on whoever tried to stay in front of him. A true speed merchant, the undersized lefty provided energy in maybe the most unexpected way for a 5-foot-8 guard – cleaning the glass. Taylor collected 5 points, a game-high 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal vs. NME. Small schools and JUCOs need to seriously start considering Taylor as a viable option in the backcourt.

2022 6-0 PG [player_tooltip player_id="949917" first="Eric" last="Howard"] – Lights Out Ballers – Marietta

The well-rounded guard let his floor game stuff the stat sheet in a nice showing against Team Forrest. Full of energy and a solid motor, Howard contributed every way he could. He finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. While he doesn’t get a ton of publicity just yet, Howard is one of the better guards in the 2022 class that no one really talks about. Don’t be surprised if by his senior year he is a popular name among D-II schools and could possibly draw interest from some D-I’s.

2022 6-3 [player_tooltip player_id="870161" first="Anthony" last="Arrington"] – Atlanta Celtics – Galloway

Stuck in neutral in the first half, [player_tooltip player_id="870161" first="Anthony" last="Arrington"] provided the Celtics with a shot in the arm off the bench vs. Georgia Legacy. He quickly compiled 9 points and 6 rebounds. Arrington brought energy attacking the basket and fighting for rebounds. He drilled two threes and helped set the tone for the rest of the game.

2022 6-2 CG Tyrese Elliott – Atlanta Celtics – Grayson

A powerfully built guard with some meat on his bones, Tyrese Elliott showed some flashes of strength and finesse. He knocked down a three to kick off his scoring and then attacked the basket from that point on. He went 4-6 from the foul line and was able to absorb contact on drives. Elliott has a quick trigger and a release that is out in front of his body which gives the illusion of it possibly being flat. Either way, he hit shots when needed and will be a nice scoring guard added to the Grayson stable.

2023 5-9 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1016268" first="Tayden" last="Owens"] – Atlanta All-Stars – Cherokee

The miniature version of [player_tooltip player_id="754245" first="Taihland" last="Owens"], Tayden showed off his scoring prowess all weekend and kicked it off with a 15-point outing against NME, also adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Owens scored on tough drives to the hoop and hit two threes to balance his attack. He’s good in the open floor and has a fearless demeanor and soft touch when finishing in traffic.
