The games were full of intensity and down to the wire as players were able to show what they have been working on during the pandemic. Some players had strong performances during the games, which should help them in the upcoming season. Here are the top Jersey Force U17 standouts.
Ray Ford, 6’3 SG St. Peter’s Prep
Ford was only able to participate in the scrimmages, but that was all he needed to prove he was one of the guards in North Jersey. The 6’3 guard attacked the basket with a purpose and was not going to be denied. Ford pushed the ball in transition and was strong with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he played with good instincts as he stripped Miles Whye in transition. Ford is a D1 guard who is a lock to start for the U17 team.
Will Parisi, 6’0 PG Don Bosco Prep
Parisi had a great all-around showing in the second session as he proved he could do it all in the backcourt. The 6’0 guard made several nice passes in transition and played with poise on the ball. Parisi was the top shooter on the day as he used his quick release and nice shooting stroke to bury shots from the perimeter. He also showed off his athleticism in the beginning with multiple dunks and finished off the session with a two-handed jam after the games were over. Parisi is a skilled point guard who should be a big part of the U17 team.
Ryan Smith Ryan Smith 6'5" | SF Robbinsville | 2021 State NJ , 6’6 SF Robbinsville
Smith had a strong showing in the games as he proved he could score in a multitude of ways. The 6’6 lefty was able to beat his man off the dribble and finish around the basket. Smith showed that he could score with either hand around the basket and was not afraid of finishing through contact. He knocked down several mid-range jumpers and moved well off the ball. Smith’s performance proved that he is capable of having a big 2020-21 season for both Jersey Force and Robbinsville.
Jordan Stafford Jordan Stafford 6'3" | PG St. Joseph Academy | 2021 State NJ , 6’1 PG St. Joseph (Hammonton)
Stafford and teammate Marcus Pierce Marcus Pierce 6'1" | CG Compass Prep | 2022 State NJ traveled two hours, but the former did not play like he had been traveling for that long. The 6’1 guard showed off his athleticism from the very beginning with several dunks coming off two feet. Stafford’s ability to explode to the basket helped him finish in traffic during the games. He was strong with the ball in his hands and pushed the ball well in transition. Stafford’s athleticism combined with his ability to lead the floor makes him a strong contender to be a big part of the Jersey Force U17 team.
Miles Whye, 6’7 PF St. Joe’s Metuchen
Whye had his share of bad moments during the session, but his confidence and ability stood out. The 6’7 forward played with good feet down low as he showcased a couple of nice post moves. Whye showed off a good face-up game as he knocked down a couple of jumpers and was comfortable with the ball on the perimeter. He shot the ball with confidence and was unafraid of missing when it left his hands. Whye’s combination of confidence and skill makes him a good big man for the Jersey Force U17 team and St. Joe’s Metuchen.
