DJ Hughes DJ Hughes 6'8" | PF Lawrence North | 2021 State #219 Nation IN Jr. – 6’7 PF 2021 – Lawrence North (IN) / EG10 2021
Hughes is a Butler commit that is just always exciting to watch. There is just so much he can do on both ends that most big men his size can not do. Can handle the ball going north and south and is real explosive to the rim. Had a few slams and ton of rebounds at this event. Looks to have added a bit of weight but it did not really look like it slowed him down any. Hughes was impressive as always.
Ronald Johnson Ronald Johnson 6'0" | PG Park Tudor | 2021 State IN – 6’0 PG/SG 2021 – Park Tudor (IN) / EG10 2021
Johnson had one of the best games we saw out of any prospect that played. Was great on defense and had a few steals that led to fastbreak scores. Showed off a nice floater and was quick with his movements. Cannot emphasize enough how great of a shooter he is. So smooth and just has excellent form from top to bottom. More of an off-guard player right now but showed that he could potentially play on the ball as well.
Nick Center – 6’2 SG 2021 – Madison (IN) / Southern Indiana Blaze 2021
Center is a taller shooting guard that is so smart and physical with his play. Real quick and has such an energetic motor on him. Showed off his rough and tough playing style especially when he was crashing boards or driving to the rim. Defensive wise he showed that he could guard multiple spots and be put into different defensive situations. Might have been slightly overlooked this weekend but he is a prospect that should have eyes on him this season.
Caleb Swearingen Caleb Swearingen 6'4" | SG Northview | 2021 State IN – 6’4 SG 2021 – Northview (IN) / Men of the Family 2021
Swearingen is a big 2 guard that is pretty creative with his scoring. Strong player that has some athleticism. He has the handles to get in the lane and when he does, he can dish, pull-up or finish at the rim. His size and length help him on the defensive as he has great blocking ability. Swearingen had a great weekend and is getting closer and closer to that breakout he is bound to have.
Gabe Mcnary Gabe Mcnary 6'8" | PF Avon | 2021 State IN – 6’8 PF 2021 – Avon (IN) / EG10 2021
McNary was real impressive when we saw him. He has always been a bit raw but he looked like a more complete player and one of the best versions we have seen from him. Super athletic and is so explosive and powerful with the ball in the post. Also has looked to improved his shooting as he knocked down a few baseline jumpers. McNary showed off his potential this past weekend.
Logan Van Essen Logan Van Essen 6'0" | PG Illiana Christian | 2021 State IN – 6’0 PG 2021 – Illiana Christian (IN) / Indiana Game Select 2021
Van Essen is a small but tough lead guard. Great, great shooter that can score at all three levels. He is very quick and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands. Love his aggressiveness and willingness to step up in big moments. Arguably one of the best guard performances from this past weekend. Van Essen has the ability and talent to play at the next level.
Jesse Hall Jesse Hall 6'7" | PF Crawfordsville | 2021 State IN – 6’7 PF 2021 – Crawfordsville (IN) / Indiana Red Storm 2021
Hall is one of, if not, the best kept secrets in the state of Indiana in regards to high school prospects. Freakishly athletic and has the size to compete. For being 6’7, his ball handles are great. So powerful and explosive with the ball on the way to the rim. His best play of the entire weekend was his monstrous finish from an alley-oop slam. More eyes need to be on this player.
Isaiah Lockhard – 6’1 PG/SG 2021 – Manual (IN) / Indy EBC 2021
Lockhard is a shorter but strong guard. Great handles and has the ability to see the court well. Real quick and athletic which was shown when he took off and slammed it over a opposing defender. Jumper could probably use a tad more work as far as consistency is concerned. Good amount of talent in Lockhard and now it is all about how he gets even better and be the best player he can be.
