Jamisen Young –
World Hoops Elite
– 2023
World Hoops dominated in their second matchup of the day. Young plays a polished game, giving off a playground basketball feel with his free-flowing style and handle. Young’s agility and quick feet couldn’t be missed, either. He was easily the fastest player on the floor and it was a problem for the defense.
Will Stark –
World Hoops Elite
– 2023:
This weekend has been Stark’s coming out party. He went from completely off our radar to essential in the next rankings update, and he did it through pure domination inside. His free throw was shaky today, but he was efficient inside and grabbed many offensive rebounds. Overall, though, his motor and scrappiness made him an appealing prospect. He was on top of every loose ball and would fight hard for every point he scored (and there were many).

– Wisconsin Crusaders – 2022:
Butler put me on notice today with a well-rounded outing against ABC Young Lions. The game seems to come easy to the guard. He scored in double figures, mostly off of fluid drives to the rim where he eluded contact. With his 6’2” frame and play style there’s potential for him to become a pure point guard, and although he didn’t shoot much besides mid-range shots, he made 37 percent of his threes last season.

Garth may be one of the bigger stock risers of this weekend. Though built like a forward, he shines in a guard role. His vision shocked me, as he dished out sharp chest-passes when you least expected it. The lefty also can step out and shoot it or rise and dunk with authority.

Capstran consistently shocks me with his productivity. The forward isn’t the tallest but outplayed every forward and big matched up with him. He is one of the few players with a refined back-to-the-basket game, as the forward can bring life into a possession by pinning his defender on his back and showing off a touch hook or turnaround shot. He also provides quick jolts of almost unguardable speed and power when attacking.

The guard is a polished product going into his junior season. He wastes no motion finding the rim on drives and has a clean three-point stroke, which was on point in today’s game. Above all, he showed grit. In the second half he was completely out of gas jogging up the floor, but still managed to scrap for a missed layup, earn a new possession, and score on back to back trips down the floor.

We don’t talk about Robinson as much as we should, but today it was obvious he’s still blooming behind the scenes. The lengthy guard is honing his shooting mechanics, looking comfortable taking pull-ups from deep, a trait he shied away from last season. He’s also able to cover serious ground off the dribble. Robinson can often blow past defenders with one or two dribbles merely stretching his way through gaps.
