We here at PrepHoops Nebraska are excited to have a circuit event in our backyard, and can’t wait to check out the talented field that will be taking to the court this weekend. Here are some Nebraska 17U prospects we will most certainly be keeping our eyes on during this weekend’s tournament.
Kwat Abdelkarim Kwat Abdelkarim 6'3" | CG Lincoln Northstar | 2021 State NE – Lincoln Supreme National 1/Lincoln North Star
One of the more athletic guards in the state, at 6’3 Kwat, is a crafty lefty and is a scoring threat whenever he has the basketball in his hand. He averaged close to 18 a night this past high school season for Lincoln North Star. His bread and butter is driving to the hoop and finishing through contact at the rim, but he also has a good looking shot from deep where he shot 35% this past winter. He’s received interest from D1s in the Summit League and the Big Sky. A big weekend in Omaha could add some more names to those interested.
Trey Deveaux Trey Deveaux 6'5" | PF Norris | 2021 State NE – Lincoln Supreme National 1/Norris
Deveaux is a physical 6’5 guard/forward who uses his athleticism to score the ball inside and fight for rebounds in the paint. He averaged close to 14 points a game, along with six rebounds a game this past winter for Norris High. He’s got some good dribble moves with the ball to create space, and also likes the midrange jumper, don’t be surprised if he steps out and hits a three every once in a while as well.
Pierce Bazil– Lincoln Supreme National 1/Lincoln Northeast
Bazil is one of the best point guards in the state of Nebraska. At 6’3, Pierce always makes smart plays and is a good distributor. Bazil can also score the basketball well getting to the rim, and has a good 3 point shot as well. He hit 5 threes in a game last weekend. He’s a smart, tough point guard, who received his first offer from D2 Wayne State earlier this month, and more D2s should be keeping tabs on him for sure.
Carter Glenn- Lincoln Supreme National 1/ Lincoln East
After watching him just a few days ago at the Lincoln Summer League, I was reminded just how tough Carter Glenn is. A scrappy guard at 5’11, Glenn always finds a way to make things happen. Glenn is a passing PG who has a knack for finding open teammates.
Luke Skar Luke Skar 6'5" | PF Omaha Skutt | 2021 State NE – Hoffman Hoops Academy/Omaha Skutt
I first watched Skar in person this past March in the Class B state tournament where his Skutt Skyhawks brought home the title, and Skar was an all-tournament performer. At 6’4, Skar plays bigger than his height, usually finding himself battling in the paint for both points and rebounds. He’s incredibly physical, and skilled around the basket.

Koby Bales and Russ Martinez- GICC Hoops/Grand Island Central Catholic
Bales and Martinez are both smart and savvy guards, who both stood out the last time I saw them both at the Heartland Hoops Classic during this past high school season when they face cross town foe Grand Island Senior High. Bales is a 6’3 guard and Martinez a 6’1 guard. They both play smart and tough on both ends of the floor.
