Akok Aguer of SF Washington (6’3 SG, 2021).
- Opened the game with steals on each of the first two possessions. Quick hands to get a swipe and then quick feet jumping a passing lane for an open floor score.
- Certainly catching the eye how Akok has moved his feet and cut off early drives. Laterally moving his feet quickly to the angle getting ahead of his man consistently.
- I like the way Akok shoots the ball. Quick, confident release with good lift that comes out of his hands quickly.
- Length has been a disruption for the opponents. Most recent deflection led to a steal and then an Akok transition score extending to finish over the closing defender.
- Aguer with a putback tap in. A second to enjoy the score? Nope. Akok went right to the baseline with hands out and feet cruising trying to get another turnover in his full court pressure.
- Another example of Akok’s no-nonsense hustle. He sprinted in for an offensive board and kicked the ball to the wing. Immediately Akok called for it back and hit a three. A second after the ball swished he ran to his spot in the press looking for more. Love his next play mentality.
- Aguer has had a nice game and a teammate has not. He could of shot up another open jumper but instead moved the ball to the top of the key where he helped a teammate get going. 100 percent love that play.
Tyler Johnson of Tri-Valley (6’5 PF, 2021).
- Good sized low post player with a touch.
- Tyler has knocked out a pair of threes and has looked to enjoy that high post, high wing area to attempt jumpers.
Koor Kuol Koor Kuol 6'4" | SF SF Roosevelt | 2021 State SD of SF Roosevelt (6’4 Guard, 2021).
- Playing lead guard for the Force early.
- Used his length around the rim so well just extending to the top of his bounce against a defender who simply couldn’t get to that level to contest shots.
- Koor’s ball reversals led to Force positives many times. His “next pass” decisions were something that really helped this team succeed early.
- Hands up, feet moving, aggressively fighting to keep his man in front from start to finish. I love Koor’s defensive potential and we saw him actively defend the full game.
- Definitely one of the main summer stock raisers that Prep Hoops writers have seen on the circuit.
Kade Moffitt Kade Moffitt 6'3" | SG SF O'Gorman | 2021 State SD of SF O’Gorman (6’3 SF, 2021).
- Kade had trouble making his jumper early but stayed with it. And Ben Renshaw Ben Renshaw 5'11" | PG Sf Bishop O'gorman | 2021 State SD stayed with him consistently moving the ball to him and Kade knocked out a corner jumper for his first three of the contest.
- Moffitt just hit a three that was about three steps behind the arc. I’m starting to feel like most the players on this team are good three point shooters and he is the latest to step up and sink.
- After the three point make Kade sprinted the other way to intercept a 20 foot pass and then pushed the ball the other way for another Force score.
- Kade set up a cut by stepping one way, making contact with his man, and then sprinted to the catch and make for another triple. The shot is the main highlight but the work was done with the contact and cut. Love how he got open for the latest make.
- Sharper handles than I expected.
Jabril Muktar of SF Lincoln (5’8 PG, 2021).
- Jabril’s first step took him from triple threat position to seven feet in space while a defender looked frozen was something to see. Quick first step into a no-look assist zipping feed.
- Love Jabril pressuring the ball and sprinting to double teams in the Force full court pressure. Just had a steal and push the other way assisting Kuol. His activity, energy, and quickness make him really fun to watch in this pressure.
- Jabril has four assists so far in the first half as his quick attacks to the lane are sucking in defenders in multiples. Players are not quick enough to move with his first step.
- The late first half score where he blitzed his man turning the corner left and then extended back under the rim to his right for the deep kiss was an impressive bucket. Jabril is using his quickness to get places many guys can’t.
- Jabri is sprinting from all angles to swipe, steal, or annoy the other team. His quickness is too quick for this motion camera to stay with.
- Muktar is harassing the basketball enjoyment out of players in this game. All over the place in this full court pressure.
- And he just made a college area three pointer with a hand in his face.
Ben Renshaw Ben Renshaw 5'11" | PG Sf Bishop O'gorman | 2021 State SD of SF O’Gorman (5’11 PG, 2021).
- Really like some of the contributions from Ben in the first half. Getting teammates going by consistently feeding the shooters the ball. Offensive taps to keep the ball alive on the glass. And moving his feet the best he can on defense.
- Got his feet set in space and drained a three. Looked much more comfortable in that situation.
- Gritty player. Willing to put himself in some tough spots.
- Uses the crosscourt pass, skip passes, long outlets very well.
- Full court baseball pass is on the money! That’s a QB arm right there.
- Ben with the steal of the in-bounds pass and a quick scoop finish with a bit of spin on it. All done within a one step motion. Not only is he gritty but fun to watch too.
- Ben just made his three shot at the rim in a small window of opportunity on the move. Great body control.
Alex Tong of SF Lincoln (6’6 PF, 2021).
- First score of the game was a confidently three. Feet look set and don’t leave the floor much looking like the shot is also form at the top and touch.
- Tong also chased down a couple early offensive boards (4) pushing Missouri kids around with his shoulders and legs moving them so he could collect and finish.
- Definitely has the confidence in his shot. Sometimes too confident but he really feels comfortable in his face-up jumper it seems. Surely can clear his man to catch and face up without a problem as he uses his size well to get off the post defender.
- Tong with his sixth offensive rebound of the game and his fourth putback score. This Missouri team can not box him out at all.
