Join us as we breakdown some game film from events and take a look at some teams and prospects in the state. Today, we are looking at Grand Park Premier 2021 Black from the Legacy Court Open Run.
Mason Brooks Mason Brooks 6'6" | PF North Putnam | 2021 State IN – #32 6’6 PF 2021 – North Putnam (IN)
Brooks is tall power forward that can be a real good defender at times. He had a pretty good weekend and got a ton of rebounds. He is also pretty active all over the floor. Had a nice baseline drive that resulted in a smooth spin move to the rim. On the inside, he has developed his back to the basket post moves, but he seems to be more comfortable on the outside. Brooks is as solid as they come.
Kaden Howell Kaden Howell 5'10" | PG Madison-Grant | 2021 State IN – #5 5’10 PG 2021 – Madison-Grant (IN)
Howell is a smaller point guard with a big build. He showed off his quickness this weekend and made a few solid plays. His best play, arguably, was his sharp cut to the basket that gave his team a much needed second chance bucket. Really good court vision on both offense and defense. Probably at his best when he can get out and run in transition.
Will Leary Will Leary 6'3" | SG Carmel | 2021 State IN – #30 6’3 SF 2021 – Carmel (IN)
Leary is a big wing who really can light up the basket once he gets in rhythm. Had a ton of rebounds on the day and was real aggressive crashing the boards. One of his more underrated skills he has is he has good hesitation with the ball and does not force anything too wild. Had a nice pull-up shot from the free-throw line. Also looks like he can do most of his scoring shooting off the catch.
Kyle Crim Kyle Crim 6'1" | PG Morristown | 2021 State IN – #23 6’1 PG 2021 – Morristown (IN)
Crim is a small lead guard with a good amount of skill. Played well against the bigger sized players and did not back down. Excellent outside shooter and can make shots both from the pull-up and off the catch. Had some nice shots and good rebounds all day. Crim had an overall solid day.
Brody Whitaker Brody Whitaker 6'2" | SG Greencastle | 2021 State IN – #12 6’2 SG 2021 – Greencastle (IN)
Whitaker is a good sized shooting guard that loves to shoot the ball. Floor general with some real solid ball handles. Had a couple good stops in transition. Also had a nice spin move off an inbound play under the basket that resulted in 2pts. Not overly fast but is real smart with his plays. Whitaker is a player that can provide a ton of scoring opportunities.
Evan Wilson – #14 6’2 SG 2021 – Noblesville (IN)
Wilson is a taller shooting guard that has a real smooth playing style. Had a few nice rebounds on the day and had a very aggressive block. He has a some good bounce and sees the floor pretty well. Shoots pretty well and splashed a 3-pointer off the catch. Needs to add some more strength but overall has the skill play with anybody for the most part.
Trey Flatt Trey Flatt 5'11" | PG Covenant Christian | 2021 State IN – #0 6’0 PG 2021 – Covenant Christian (IN)
Flatt is a bigger guard with a good amount of speed. Loves to attack the rim and did it with a ton of toughness. Though he loves to attack, his finishing was a little inconsistent at times. Also showed he can shoot as he had a pull-up shot behind the arc. Flatt is the type of player where you will never have to question his toughness and aggressiveness.
Caeden Kaopuiki Caeden Kaopuiki 6'0" | PG Homestead | 2021 State IN – #3 5’11 PG 2021 – Carmel (IN)
Kaopuiki is a smaller guard that can be pretty explosive with his speed at times. Offense was pretty quiet all day but he did have a few key rebounds. Also had a couple good stops on defense against bigger guards. Would have liked to have seen his offensive ability a little more on the day. He looks like he can be a solid prospect moving forward, however.
