Join us as we breakdown some game film from events and take a look at some teams and prospects in the state. Today, we are looking at Team Focus 2022 Premier from the Legacy Court Open Run.
Mason Baker – #3 6’2 SG 2022 – Columbia City (IN)
Baker is a taller shooting guard. He has a quick release and does a good job shooting the ball with some open space. Had couple good plays on the day like his sharp cut to the basket which resulted into a right-handed layup. Also had a pretty nice 3-pointer off a catch. Can see him improving even more as his high school career continues.
Jackson Barth – #24 6’0 PG 2022 – DeKalb (IN)
Bath is a shorter lead guard that is pretty smart. Does not force anything wild and picks and chooses when to make a play. Solid defender and but needs to get a little stronger. Looks like he could end up being a pretty good shooter. Just needs to work on being a little bit more aggressive on the offense.
Connor Essegian Connor Essegian 6'4" | SG Central Noble | 2022 State #170 Nation IN – #10 6’3 SG 2022 – Central Noble (IN)
Essegian is a bigger shooting guard that is one of the top players in his class. He was very active on both ends of the court and it just looks like the game comes easy to him. Very athletic and runs the floor really well. Had a few catch-and-shoot 3s and a nice put-back lay-in. Essegian is one of those players than can just do it all at a high level.
Ifeanyi Ezeakudo Ifeanyi Ezeakudo 5'10" | PG Homestead | 2022 IN – #30 5’9 PG 2022 – Homestead (IN)
Ezeakudo is a smaller lead guard with a solid frame on him already. Made a few errors early on in the first game and did not get a whole lot of minutes the rest of the day so it was a little hard to evaluate him. Hopefully this was just one of those rare “off days” and we see him have some better outings this upcoming season for Homestead.
Logan Gard Logan Gard 6'6" | PF Central Noble | 2022 State IN – #33 6’6 PF 2022 – Central Noble (IN)
Gard is a tall power forward with some athletic ability. Had a good cut to the rim for an easy bucket to the start the first game off and looks to be a little faster than the last time we saw him. Really had a ton of rebounds throughout the day. Showed off his shooting ability stepped-out and knocked down some 3s. Overall, Gard showed how solid he can be.
Ashton Johnson Ashton Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne South | 2022 State IN – #23 6’2 SG 2022 – Fort Wayne South (IN)
Johnson is big, bruising wing player. Showed off his excellent rebounding skills and some really good plays on defense.Even had one rebound on defense and drove the length of the floor for a layup. Even showed off some good shooting from behind the arc. Needs to become quicker but Johnson is an interesting prospect to watch these next couple of seasons.
Max Schiltz – #2 5’11 PG 2022 – Homestead (IN)
Schiltz is a smaller point guard that plays with a ton of aggressiveness. Was not afraid to get in there and cause some problems on defense. Had some real nice plays on the day like his quick cut from the top of the key for a easy layup. His best play, however, was his fake pass that lead to him using a spin move and running the baseline for a very easy bucket. Schiltz showed signs that he could be a very good player in his class.
Ryan Schroeder – #5 6’4 SF 2022 – Central Noble (IN)
Schroeder is a bigger wing that can do a lot. His best skill is his rebounding as he crashes the boards with tons of aggressiveness. Pretty strong and smart as well. Would like to see his offensive ability just a tad bit more. Looks like he will turn out to be a solid prospect.
Grady Swing – #25 6’3 SF 2022 – Homestead (IN)
Swing is a big wing with a wide frame. Has some good speed and cuts to the basket pretty well. Wanted to see him shoot it some more but he had some nice rebounds. Looks pretty strong right now too and looks as though he can be pretty aggressive at times.Should be a key player for Homestead.
