Join us as we breakdown some game film from events and take a look at some teams and prospects in the state. Today, we are looking at Team Focus 2023 Premier from the Legacy Court Open Run.
Kenny Austin – #2 5’9 PG 2023 – Homestead (IN)
Austin is an athletic lead guard with a long frame. Long arms that helps him a ton on the defensive end. Had a couple of steals and one that lead to a fastbreak score. Plays all over the floor and had a few rebounds. Did not see his jumper all that much so interested to see what that looks like in the long term. Austin should be on track to be a real good player moving forward.
Ethan Bontrager – #35 6’1 SF 2023 – Fremont (IN)
Bontrager is a taller forward with some talent already. Long frame and it looks like he still should grow more into his body. Good rebounder and is excellent at crashing the boards. Showed off some shooting a little and noticed his high release. Should end up being a high-end defender moving forward.
Santino Brewer – #24 5’9 PG 2023 – Eastside (IN)
Brewer is a strong guard with some good ball handles. Real aggressive on the defensive and proved that with a few steals. Runs the floor well and has some solid court vision. Better scoring on the drive right now as his jumper is a little flat at the moment. Has the body already to end being an interesting prospect.
Braden Eash – #11 6’1 SG 2023 – Westview (IN)
Eash is a taller shooting guard that plays well from the wing. Noticed he started most of his play making off the wing. Real good at driving from there and had a nice pull-up jumper from the free-throw line. His ball handles do need some more work because he looked a little careless with the ball sometimes. Eash should grow a bit more and does have some upside to be high-end scoring threat.
Grant Hayworth – #20 6’4 PF 2023 – Fort Wayne Concordia (IN)
Hayworth is a combo guard that can play on and off the ball. Great passer that finds his teammates well. Plays all over the floor on offense and can give a team few scoring options. Had a few rebounds and steals as well. Showed off some shooting with a 3 off the catch. There is some potential in Hayworth already.
Dayton Hoover – #12 6’1 SG 2023 – Blackford (IN)
Hoover is a shifty lead guard with some solid handles. Sees the floor pretty well and can find his teammates for scoring. Real good rebounder as he had a few on the day. Good 3-point shooter and is the type of offensive player that can play all over the floor. Lot of upside in Hoover so keep an eye on him these next few years.
Dawson Hundley – #22 5’11 PG 2023 – Blackford (IN)
Hundley is tall and lanky player that can be pretty creative at times. Really came on in the second half (first game) and started knocking down shots. Can guard multiple spots and could see him transitioning into forward as his high school career continues. Nice shooter and had a smooth 3 off the catch. Has some good rebounding ability but would like to see him be a bit stronger with grabbing them. Hundley is a nice player that could turn into a high-end prospect.
Conner Lemmon – #10 5’9 PG 2023 – Central Noble (IN)
Lemmon is a smaller guard with a ton of quickness. Showed off his ability to dish it well to his teammates. Hit a 3 when I saw him but his shot is just a little pushy at the moment. Adding some strength should help with his shot. Real solid IQ and had a long pass for a score. Really just needs to add some strength and size but already has the talent to compete.
Aiden Rietdorf – #3 5’9 PG 2023 – Fort Wayne Carroll (IN)
Rietdorf is a shorter lead guard that is a true point guard. Not really one to want to score first but wants to set his team up for scoring. Plays pretty good defense as well. He did shoot a little but his shoot looked a bit off at points. Needs some more speed but has the skillset to be a solid point guard moving forward.
Jayden Schmenk – #0 5’11 PG 2023 – Fort Wayne Northrop (IN)
Schmenk is a small guard that is solid all around. Good defender and had a fastbreak score off a steal. Really good at cutting to the basket and had a couple scores off of that. Smooth jumper and showed he can knock it down off the catch. Should grow some more and when he does he might takeoff.
