LONG BEACH, CA—I felt the next time I’d be in a gym would be a surreal-like feeling—and that is exactly the case. Dinos Trigonis, who had been running events in Arizona, Utah, and Iowa—unveiled his first event in So-Cal—and it was quite good to say the least. From the playmaking abilities of Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ to an improved “big” in Henri Adiassa, the talent in the Class of 2022 was high-level.
Biggest Standouts
Jalen Pitre (Long Beach/Poly)
2022, WF, 6-foot-8, 200 pounds
Joel’s Take: Pitre, who will be part of the Jackrabbit family in the fall, showed why he is one of the most improved prospects in So-Cal. He is a member of the Class of 2021, but he plans on reclassifying to the Class of 2022. The skilled lefty impacts the game in a multiple of ways. His ball skills are impressive both in transition as well as in the half court set. He can pop in the 3-ball, create off the dribble, finish well above the rim, and facilitate the offense.
Isaac Peralta (JSerra)
2022, PG, 6-foot-1, 155 pounds
Joel’s Take: This no nonsense guard played with skill and moxie at this event. He drained in 3s (good lift on his shot), snapped passes to open teammates in transition, and showed improved speed and quickness while attacking defenders. Not to mention he showed leadership as he guided his teammates at both ends.
Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ (Las Vegas/Desert Pines)
2022, PG, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: One of the slickest point guard prospects in the West is Uzan. The clever point guard changes speeds with aplomb as he gets defenders off balance and either sets himself to score or find an open teammate. He has a tight crossover and step back dribble and he gets good lift on his shot. What stands out to me the most is how balanced he is while running a team as he never gets sped up with the ball in his hands.
Scotty Washington (St. John Bosco)
2022, SG, 6-foot-5, 170 pounds
Joel’s Take: Washington could have ended up on a number of these lists, but after dropping in jump shots left and right and exhibiting improved ball skills and confidence, he deserved the “Standout” category. The wiry wing will reclassify after suffering an injury—one of which that kept him out his entire junior campaign. However, during this event he was firing on all cylinders as he showed zero effects of an extended layoff.
