LONG BEACH, CA—I felt the next time I’d be in a gym would be a surreal-like feeling—and that is exactly the case. Dinos Trigonis, who had been running events in Arizona, Utah, and Iowa—unveiled his first event in So-Cal—and it was quite good to say the least. From the playmaking abilities of Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ to an improved “big” in Henri Adiassa, the talent in the Class of 2022 was high-level.
The Next Step
Tajavis Miller (Servite)
2022, PG, 6-foot-3, 180 pounds
Joel’s Take: Miller has nice size for the 1 and he plays at a great pace. He never gets sped up with the dribble and has the versatility to play off the ball due to his deep 3-point shooting touch. He has a fairly quick release on his shot and he’s always on balance. His head is always up and he always appears to make the right play. Look-ahead passes are part of his forte and he knows how to run a half court offense. His ability to rebound in traffic and lead the break is nother asset with his game. Going forward he needs to continue to improve his initial burst off the dribble to get by defenders that have a quickness advantage.
Akoye Hudson (Long Beach/St. Anthony)
2022, SG, 6-foot-2, 180 pounds
Joel’s Take: Hudson plays as if he was shot out of a cannon. Despite his size he gets most of his production within 10-feet of the basket as he uses his strength and quickness to dominate the paint area. Slashing drives and finishing through contact is his forte. He has the ball skils as well, but he needs a consistent jump shot to take his game to another level.
Joshua Jefferson Joshua Jefferson 6'8" | PF Liberty | 2022 State #158 Nation NV (Henderson, NV/Liberty)
2022, PF, 6-foot-7, 220 pounds
Joel’s Take: One of the more skilled 4-men in the event was Jefferson. His frame has stretched out a bit and he uses his magnetic hands and high-level savvy to impact the game in a variety of ways. He can score inside (utilizing both hands) and out due to his touch and his ball skills and passing are solid as well. To take his game to a new level he needs to continue to hone his 3-point touch, but overall he is one of the more intriguing prospects in his class out West.
Khemanni Davis (Rancho Verde)
2022, SG, 6-foot-3, 185 pounds
Joel’s Take: Davis is a strong shooting guard who affects the game at both ends. He gets great lift on his jump shot and his release looks solid. In transition he has the strength and quickness to get to the rim. Defensively, he slides his feet well and he has active hands. Definitely, one to watch going forward as his overall mid-range game evolves.
