LONG BEACH, CA—I felt the next time I’d be in a gym would be a surreal-like feeling—and that is exactly the case. Dinos Trigonis, who had been running events in Arizona, Utah, and Iowa—unveiled his first event in So-Cal—and it was quite good to say the least. The playmaking abilities of sleeper Keshawn Hall Keshawn Hall 6'0" | PG Lake Oswego | 2021 OR as well as the improved all around play of Jalen Pietre were notable evaluations. Toss in the lights out shooting of Scotty Washington Scotty Washington 6'4" | SG St. John Bosco | 2021 State #223 Nation CA-S and it’s safe to say the talent in the Class of 2021 tilt was deep and talented.
Biggest Surprises
Keshawn Hall Keshawn Hall 6'0" | PG Lake Oswego | 2021 OR (Portland/Jefferson)
2021, PG, 6-foot-1, 155 pounds
Joel’s Take: The biggest surprise in the Class of 2021 game was Hall. The ultra-crafty point guard is the ultimate facilitator as he delivered dime after dime in two games he played. He hit his teammates in stride in transition as well as in the half court set after breaking down the defense. To take his game to a new level, he needs to tighten up his jump shot to keep defenders honest.
Maxwell Lewis (Phoenix/Hillcrest Prep)
2021, WF, 6-foot-7, 185 pounds
Joel’s Take: One of the best prospects in the entire event was Lewis. He has an ideal High Major frame with great length and he’s quite the bouncy athlete. He gets great lift on his jump shot and his release is smooth. His face-up skills are solid and he has the burst to blow by his defender. All the offensive tools are evident and he has the length and lateral quickness to be a lock-down defender.
Glenn Taylor (Henderson/Coronado)
2021, SG, 6-foot-5, 175 pounds
Joel’s Take: Taylor is the fastest rising senior prospect in Las Vegas. He has great size for the scoring guard position and the physical tools as well. He has a solid burst off the dribble and he can finish with either hand through contact. His jump shot is solid out to the stripe, which sets up his driving game. Due to his motor he is a willing defender and he hits the glass as well.
Kamron Robinson Kamron Robinson 6'8" | C Jefferson | 2020 NV (Portland/Jefferson)
2021, 6-foot-9, 220 pounds
Joel’s Take: Robinson has the prototypical frame with long arms and he is bouncy as well. He is a fluid runner, has good feet to defend the perimeter, and overall is a very good prospect. His hands are soft and he can finish with either hand in the paint area. However, he needs to get much more assertive at both ends. Overall, the physical tools are skill are noteworthy, but his motor and mindset need to elevate.
Garrett Andre Garrett Andre 6'9" | C Villa Park | 2021 State CA-S (Villa Park)
2021, C, 6-foot-10, 215 pounds
Joel’s Take: Andre is lengthy 5-man with long arms and overall great length. He has gotten steadily stronger and more aggressive each and every season which has helped his productivity in the area of rebounding. The most intriguing aspect of his game is his shooting touch—a touch that extends to 15-feet. He still needs to gain strength and play with a stronger base, but he has improved.
