Jaylen Thompson 6’7 Forward, St. Joseph Notre Dame HS ( Alameda, CA)
Thompson has established himself as one of the top 2022 prospects in NorCal, and is attracting national attention in the West and beyond. He’s drawn the attention of several Pac 12 Programs, WCC, SEC, and the ACC. His development is on track, his skill set continues to improve, his frame appears to be bulking up.
Austin Johnson Austin Johnson 6'3" | SG Salesian | 2022 State CA-N 6’4 Combo Salesian College Prep HS (Richmond, CA)
Johnson has DI interest from several West Coast programs. The combo guard got good game experience running the point guard position during the season. I imagine he’ll continue to develop his handles, and get some work in at the point. He’s a quality spot up shooter from 3, an improving mid-range game, a solid body to handle the contact on the drive.
Ron Jones 6’6 Wing, Oakland Tech HS (Oakland, CA)
Jones is a rising prospect who should take on a bigger role at Tech next season. The wing has developed his outside/ in game. A solid wing player who’s improved his play on the perimeter, his improved handles allow him to attack from the baseline/ wings with some success, his outside shooting is improved. At this stage of his game he might be more valuable to his team working the post where has the body and strength to be more effective. A rising prospect on my Wright’s prospect watch list.
Tre Knight 5’11, Point Guard, Moreau Catholic HS (Hayward, CA)
Knight spent considerable time at the off guard position this past season honing his skills, scoring and attacking from different angles on the wings, and baseline. Will he return to play the point on this team is the question? A solid body, good handles, decent passer who can execute the offense, including the pick-n-roll. He has a consistent mid-range jumper and can get to the paint. He’s drawing DI interest on the West Coast.
Jojo Murphy 6’1 Guard, Piedmont HS ( Piedmont, CA)
Murphy had a breakout season, and has set himself up to attract more attention from colleges moving forward. He has a solid floor game, and plays with good energy. He’s always moving and making it tough on defenders trying to contain him. He can score on the drive, nail the three if left unattended. He averaged 13.3 ppg. He’s on my Wright’s watch list.
Broyce Batchen Jr. 6’2 Point Guard De Anza HS ( El Sobrante, CA)
A rising prospect who I haven’t seen much of, he’s on my Wright’s player watch list. The solid body point guard has all the tools to be a quality point guard at the next level. Solid handles, strong on the drive, he can handles the physical contact, he can finish with either hand and over the top. He uses his body well with good control and balance. He’s hard to guard in the open court. He is attracting DI interest.
Robel Zemmo 6’2 Guard Oakland Tech HS (Oakland, CA)
A rising player on a team that has a good group of young talent returning. Oakland Tech is a team to watch. Zemmo, an athletic prospect who’s hard to guard in the open court, he takes it strong, and has good balance, and body control with the hops to throw it down if you leave an opening. He plays a good all around game, effective on the wings, can get to the paint often. A good on ball defender who can make it tough on ball handlers. He’s on my Wright’s player watch list.
