Here are some updates on Topeka bigs:
Brody Gormley 2022, Seaman:
Gormley is a tall and solidly built rising junior. The 6’5 post has the physique to be dominant on the football field too, where he’s listed as a defensive end and tight end. He’s not afraid to put the ball up from beyond the arc and he’s a real workhorse on the boards. The rebuild at Seaman could really use a talented big to pair with a wealth of young guards. Gormley didn’t play much varsity as a sophomore, but he might be the man to step into the shoes of Drayton Foster Drayton Foster 6'4" | SF Seaman | 2020 State KS , a similar big man who’s now a Washburn University football player.
Kaden Ireland, 2022, 6’0, Seaman:
Like Gormley, Ireland didn’t play varsity at Seaman as a sophomore. But unlike Gormley, Ireland is an undersized but lightning-quick forward. He is athletic and selfless team-first guy. He guards relentlessly and dives on the floor for every loose ball. He’s got quick hands that are frequently in the passing lane. In recent summer action he did demonstrate some ability to knock down 3-pointers too. He may not be strictly a forward, but with so many top-quality guards at Seaman, Ireland will probably have to carve out a niche as a versatile, undersized small forward.
Casen Stallbaumer, 2022, Seaman:
Yet another Seaman prospect, the 6’2 Stallbaumer is the most versatile of the three. He is a high-quality 3-point shooter who shows the ability to drive and score as well. He’s got long arms and is another workhorse on the glass. Not only is he able to shoot, create and score, but he demonstrates some awareness to pass and find open teammates. With Foster and Eric Patterson graduated from the Seaman lineup, Stallbaumer will be a key guy to develop.
