Here are some updates on some northeast Kansas guards:
Carson Brading, 2021, Jefferson West:
The 5-foot-11 hotshot will assume more leadership for the Tigers with the graduation of Quinn Neuenswander Quinn Neuenswander 6'5" | PF Jefferson West | 2020 State KS and Bryce Clements, two seniors who warranted all-state honors. Brading is a constant threat from deep, and he is also a team-first ball handler and distributor. He hustles after rebounds against bigger opponents and he handles the ball effectively against pressure. He can make some deft drives through the lane with his left hand and is a threat to get to the goal. Once he goes to the line, he’s pretty automatic.
Tate Brown, 2022, Manhattan:
As a sophomore, Brown didn’t get a lot of opportunities on the senior-laden Indians. The door will be wide open for him to get more PT next season. At 5-foot-11, he’s an outside shooter and competent ball handler for the Kansas Hoggs U16 squad. He has the ability to slice into the lane and score as well.
Stavion Jones, 2021, Seabury:
Jones has already been through a ton of battles for the Seahawks, and he still has a year remaining. He’s honing his skills with the loaded MoKan program this summer. He was honorable mention all state in 2A as a sophomore, and was leading the Seahawks to a championship this spring when the season was aborted. He was named second-team all 2A. He’s just 5-foot-9, but he’s quick and a good ball handler, and he’s got a ton of experience.
