It’s time for our yearly team previews and we countinue look at this year’s group at International Elite with their 16U squad. On the whole the roster is filled with lesser known names as a number of guys played at smaller classfiication schools or at the JV level but the IE coaching staff likes what they’ve seen so far.
“Our 16U group is talented,” said International Elite coach Allan Brown. “We have tremendous size and because we have the size guys are able to play more of their natural positions they will be asked to play in college. We are excited for this group as we think they have the right mindset and leadership to be able to surprise a lot of people when we play.”
Here’s a look at the key guys on the 16U roster:
Noah Ogoli Noah Ogoli 6'2" | CG Tualatin | 2022 State OR (2022 Tualatin) – Ogoli will be heavily depended upon on the 16U squad. Having grown physically over the past year, he now stands at least 6-feet tall and has added muscle onto his frame. Ogoli shoots it well from the outside and plays with a good feel for the game at the point.
Koa Bacci Koa Bacci 6'8" | PF Lake Oswego | 2022 State OR (2022 Lake Oswego) – Bacci is a mobile big man at 6-foot-8 who will play a key role with his rebounding and defense. He can finish plays near the basket athletically but also step out and his mid-range jumpers. He played JV at Southridge last season and will be at Lake Oswego this year.
Benjamin Cheung Benjamin Cheung 6'4" | SG Valley Catholic | 2022 State OR (2022 Valley Catholic) – Cheung is a knockdown perimeter shooter with size at 6-foot-3. The lefty excels at spotting up but is working on his off-the-dribble game. Cheung has been working on making the Taiwanese National team for his age group.
Marcus Johnson Marcus Johnson 6'2" | CG Jesuit | 2022 State OR (2022 Jesuit) – Johnson is a strong and athletic combo guard at 6-foot-1. He’s particularly effective in the open court and really gets after it on the defensive end. Johnson is still developing offensively but has a fairly nice look on his jumper.
Keshav Anand Keshav Anand 6'4" | PF Westview | 2022 State OR (2022 Westview) – Anand is an experienced forward having played varsity ball at Westview the past two seasons. The 6-foot-4 rising junior has a nice lefty touch from mid-range and is working on getting more aggressive with the ball in his hands.
Marshall Allen (2022 Tillamook) – Allen is a wing with some size at 6-foot-4. He’s capable of hitting perimeter jumpers but also creating and getting to the hoop. Allen was an All-League performer for Tillamook in 2019-20.
Jackson Knight Jackson Knight 6'3" | SG Sunset | 2022 State OR (2022 Sunset) – Knight is an aggressive offensive player who can knock down shots from the outside but really looks to create off of the dribble. He plays with a good motor on the defensive end. Knight also played football at Sunset this past season.
Logan Jackson Logan Jackson 6'7" | PF Hillsboro | 2022 State OR (2022 Hillsboro) – Jackson is a wing/post with some decent size at 6-foot-5. He can hit the open perimeter jumper, hit the boards hard on both ends, and play solid team defense.
Dominic Ball (2022 Cascade) – Ball is a developing post who is the tallest player on the team at 6-foot-10. He’s good around the basket on both ends, effectively using his height and length to be a shot-blocking threat.
Skylar Schmidt (2023 Scappoose) – Schmidt is an up-and-coming post prospect. At already 6-foot-6 in height, he has a soft touch around the hoop and has some developing shooting ability.
