2022 5-10 PG Dajaun Devonish Dajaun Devonish 5'10" | PG Etowah | 2022 State GA – Deep South Blue Devils – Etowah
Dajaun Devonish Dajaun Devonish 5'10" | PG Etowah | 2022 State GA ’s scoring and toughness was on display Saturday in a narrow loss to STARS Basketball Premier. Devonish gave the defense issues with his quickness and athleticism. He had a good nose for the ball and was a willing rebounder, able to crash the glass and earn his team second-chance opportunities. He in fact led the Blue Devils in rebounding. On offense, Devonish drilled four threes and created his own offense. He finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
2022 6-4 W Daequan Wright Daequan Wright 6'4" | SF Perry | 2022 State GA – GA Rebels – Perry
A big strong imposing football player, Wright had his way against an overmatched TNT Fury White frontcourt. No one could keep the hulking wing off the glass and when he attacked the basket all the defense could do was foul him. Wright went 12-13 from the line and finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. “Sunshine” is the prototypical tough, hardnosed player from middle Georgia.
2022 6-2 G Curtis Head – GA Rebels – Perry
Another Perry football standout, Head is a muscular off-guard that gets to the basket. He too absorbed plenty of contact when getting to the rim and went 5-10 from the line. He scored 13 points. His ability to move his feet on defense and body up smaller guards helped the Rebels hold TNT to 42 points.
2022 6-3 W Ryan Oliver – STARS Basketball Premier – Cane Ridge (TN)
Up north from neighboring Tennessee, Ryan Oliver was instant energy for STARS. Oliver’s motor was revved up against the Deep South Blue Devils and he hurt them inside. Oliver stayed on the glass and would attack from the perimeter. Oliver plays bigger than his size. In a two-point game he sacrificed his body to take a charge with 49.2 seconds left to help preserve the victory. Oliver is a player I’d like to watch again. I love a player that plays hard. He posted 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
2022 6-2 G Ryan Neal – TNT Fury White – Farragut (TN)
There was no backing down in Ryan Neal. Up against the GA Rebels, when they would talk, he’d give it right back to them. Neal’s fiery play lifted TNT and kept them in the game. He went for 16 points and scored on tough drives and pretty pull-ups. Neal made a lasting impression as a major competitor.
