Beyond my list of the top 5 teams to watch in the 5A SIC, here is a run down of the remaining schools from District III. The 5A SIC is always one of the most competitive conferences in the state and the 2020-21 season will once again prove this theory. Keep reading for a preview of the remaining teams from the 5A SIC.
Borah Lions: One of the storied programs in the state of Idaho, the Lions finished off a 25-7 overall record and a 16-4 conference record in 2019-20 by winning the 5A state championship. Under head coach Jeremy Dennis, the Lions will look to regroup this season after losing 8 seniors, the majority of which played major minutes. As Borah looks to climb the district ladder once more, look for Luke HoetkerLukeHoetker6'0" | PGBorah | 2021StateID, a 6’0" dynamic guard with a great jumper and smart passing, to lead the way for the Lions.
Capital Eagles: Capital finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 3-18 and will look to make major improvements this year under head coach Scott Moore. The Eagles will look to stick to their game plan of hard work and determination to push them into the

Capital Eagles: Capital finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 3-18 and will look to make major improvements this year under head coach Scott Moore. The Eagles will look to stick to their game plan of hard work and determination to push them into the district tournament this year, and a shot at a run for the state tournament. Watch for
Nate CherryNateCherry6'0" | SGCapital | 2022StateID, a shooting guard with great form and a consistent jumper, and Titus Bailey, a 6’0" class of 2023 guard with lots of varsity experience and incredible potential.
Kuna Kavemen: Finishing second in the conference last season under head coach Pete Longgood, the Kavemen look to build on their 12-4 conference record with help from a talented young roster. The Kavemen lost in a semi-final matchup against Moscow last season, but will hope to carry their winning traditions deep into the state tournament at the 5A level. Look out for
Sean AustinSeanAustin6'2" | PGKuna | 2021StateID, a 6’2" guard with a great feel for the game that can do a little bit of everything, and
Cade RandallCadeRandall5'10" | PGKuna | 2021StateID, a sharp-shooter who can shoot off of the dribble or on the catch with a quick release.
Mountain View Mavericks: The Mavericks finished 6-21 overall and 5-15 in conference last season and will look to make a run during the district tournament this year. Under coach Jon Nettleton, Mountain View will claw their way to the top of the conference if they can put together a solid group that will play well with one another. As the Mavericks round out their roster this season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a guard heavy line-up that wants to push the ball and play fast. Look for
Bayler PerrinBaylerPerrin5'7" | PGMountain View | 2022StateID to lead the Mavs, a guard that can score in bunches and only needs to see one shot go in to start scoring.
Skyview Hawks: The Hawks struggled last season after compiling a conference record of 5-17 and an overall record of 6-25 under head coach Aaron Sanders. Skyview will get a chance to start from scratch in 2020-21 after graduating a lot of seniors. I am not an expert, but I would expect to see a lot of backdoor cuts after the player at the top of the key dribbles away and spins back. Watch for
Abram ZweigleAbramZweigle6'3" | SFSkyview | 2021StateID, a 6’3" guard/forward to carry a lot of the weight for Skyview in this upcoming season.
Timberline Wolves: Timberline finished in the middle of the pack last season with an overall record of 14-22 and a conference record of 9-13 under head coach Travis Noble. The Wolves will look to regroup in an attempt to make a deep run at the district tournament and a potential appearance at the state tournament in the 2020-21 season. Timberline’s young roster is full of underclassmen and their varsity experience will help them a lot down the road. Look for
Cooper LumsdenCooperLumsden6'3" | SGTimberline | 2021StateID, a talented guard with the ability to score at all three levels and a deadly jumper with extended range, to lead the Wolves in 2020-21.
