We are looking ahead of players to watch in each classification. Up next is 5A which returns 3 of the Top 5 scorers from last season.
The top 5 scorers that are coming back in 5A are:
6’5 Robert Whaley Robert Whaley 6'5" | PF Bountiful | 2021 State UT (Bountiful)
6’2 Noa Gonsalves Noa Gonsalves 6'2" | PG Lehi | 2021 State UT (Lehi)
6’8 Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT (Alta)
6’4 Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT (Farmigton)
6’7 Parker Buchanan Parker Buchanan 6'7" | SF Box Elder | 2021 State UT (Box Elder)
6’5 SF Robert Whaley Robert Whaley 6'5" | PF Bountiful | 2021 State UT (Bountiful)
When it comes to players scoring at a high clip Robert is a player that is too tough to stop on the block. He shoots well from the free-throw line as well. We have seen teams try to zone him up but he always seems to find holes in those defensive pockets. He is also prone to rebound the ball well against zones and get easy put backs. He’s extremely athletic for his size as well.
6’4 Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT (Farmington)
Collin has not played in a whole lot of games this summer but in the ones he has played in he has really shown his athletic ability and his elite open floor play. He has turned into a Division 1 player that will really blow up because he can score at all three levels at an elite level. He’s been playing really well with and without the ball in his hands.
6’2 Noa Gonsalves Noa Gonsalves 6'2" | PG Lehi | 2021 State UT (Lehi)
Noa was a player that was really patient and let the game come to hima nd he could still score the ball well. He doesn’t need a lot of shots to score a lot. Very interested to see how he does in the Quincy Lewis system that might feature him as the scoring guard.
6’6 Jackson Holcombe Jackson Holcombe 6'6" | CG Timpanogos | 2021 State UT (Timpanogos)
Jackson is a player that should take advantage of his versatility as he can run 1-3 positions on the floor. He shoots the ball well. He is a player that should make a big jump in scoring production. We expect him to hit 10-20 more three-pointers this up-coming season.
6’8 Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT (Alta)
Jaden is long and skilled. He has really improved his body and his outside shooting. Could be a player that takes it to another level as he had a breakout year last year. Jaden can rebound and run the break. He is an exceptional pick n’ pop player.
Notable Players:
Parker Buchanan Parker Buchanan 6'7" | SF Box Elder | 2021 State UT (Box Elder)
Jake Whalin (Timpview)
Ben Krystowiak Ben Krystowiak 6'4" | CG Brighton | 2021 State UT (Olympus)
