When we do our rankings updates periodically, we inevitably miss kids. Looking ahead to our next update, here are 5 prospects who were missed in our last 2022 rankings update and will definitely be in the mix next time.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009763" first="Gavin" last="Allen"], Corbin - Kentucky is always light on true big men. Allen is almost like a unicorn because he’s legitimately 6’10 and still growing. He could be a 7 footer when the dust settles. His biggest issue as a prospect is the lack of lateral movement and overall foot speed but that can improve. If he gets to where he can defend the pick and roll with a quick hedge and recover and starts finishing everything around the rim, Allen has D1 level upside thanks to his positional size.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009764" first="Brant" last="Smithers"], Walton-Verona - Smithers is in the conversation for best shooter in the state, regardless of class. He needs to add some bulk to his frame to help him finish through contact but he plays with a swagger that most kids do not. Walton-Verona struggled this past season but Smithers is firmly in the mix for 8th region player of the year and continues to have big scoring weekends in this AAU season. He should be on the radar for D2/NAIA schools and will definitely be in our next rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009765" first="Joel" last="Iles"], Newport Central Catholic - Another shooter on the wing, Iles can also bully his way to the rim and finish thanks to a big, strong frame. Joel put up shooting splits of 53/44/81 in 20 games as a Sophomore. While he could stand to become a better rebounder, Iles is wired to score and could make a huge jump in his Junior season as long as he is healthy. He’s likely a top 20 prospect in the class overall.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009766" first="Ross" last="Pangallo"], Newport Central Catholic - Iles’ teammate, Pangallo is an explosive athlete who is currently recovering from surgery and out until December. Last season, Ross battled through injury to average 10 points per game for a young and talented NCC team. Athletically speaking, Pangallo has D1 upside but he needs to get healthy and stay healthy to prove he can compete at the highest levels. Coming off an injury shortened Sophomore year and missing AAU this summer, Ross has a chance to boost his stock with a healthy Junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009767" first="Jackson" last="Shoulders"], Lyon County - [player_tooltip player_id="939117" first="Travis" last="Perry"] gets all the headlines but Shoulders is proving to be a more than adequate second fiddle for the Lions. Averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds per game in his Sophomore season, Shoulders needs to straighten out his shooting numbers to be considered a legitimate college prospect but with good positional size and a good motor on the court, Jackson has definitely played his way into a ranking when we update them again.
