I saw as many games as I could across three long days filled with college basketball talent of all levels. I focused primarily on the class of 2021 because they are the guys who need exposure the most. These are some of the athletes who stood out for the Q6- All Stars-Perry and SOH Elite:
PG John Latimer III John Latimer III 6'0" | CG Apopka | 2021 State FL 6-1 Q6 All Stars-Perry High School: Apopka
At Apopka high school this past season, Latimer needed to put up big scoring totals for the Blue Darters to be successful. This weekend he continued to score the ball, however he also showed that he has improved as a facilitator. Leading the charge, the floor general found teammates rolling to the basket, and drove the lane dropping it off to teammates on the block for the score. On a few occasions, he threw perfect lobs to his teammates for highlight reel worthy dunks. With Presbyterian representing his only offer, expect that to change soon, particularly if he continues to show improvement creating for others. Off the court Latimer maintains a 4.5 GPA.
F Michael McCalister 6-5 Q6 All Stars- Perry High School: West Orange
McCalister was strong during the season, but he has clearly been in the weight room since. Across three games he was one of Q6’s most consistent performers, finishing around the basket often through contact, and hitting shots from the mid range. In each game I watched, he made at least one three pointer, and finished with double digits scoring the ball. As he continues to improve handling the basketball on the perimeter, big things are ahead for the one coaches call “Mr. All-Around”.
PF Miles Stewart 6-7 Q6 All Stars –Perry High School: Lake Highland Prep (Orlando)
Stewart showed progress as a skilled stretch four this weekend, scoring in double figures for all three games. He was automatic from the mid range, sank some threes, and showed more grit battling in the post than I had ever seen from him before. The big man showed some nice footwork, and rebounded the ball well. Stewart is much stronger than he was three months ago, which reflects well on his work ethic.
G/F Tyeree Bryan Tyeree Bryan 6'3" | CG Olympia | 2021 State FL 6-4 Q6 All Stars-Perry High School: Olympia (Orlando)
This weekend Bryan saved his best performance for his last game scoring 18 points against the Rock United Commanders. The wing showed off some athleticism throwing down some alley-oop dunks, and also showed the ability to knock down the three-point shot. A bit under the radar, expect to see Bryan’s recruitment pick up over his senior year, as he will be one of the better wings in Orlando.
SG Reggie Luis Reggie Luis 6'5" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL Jr. 6-5 SOH Elite High School: Columbus (Miami)
A member of the Dominican Republic U-17 national team, Luis impressed this weekend. The long, lanky wing scored on mid range pull-ups, drained several three pointers, and found success attacking the basket. With interest from mid-major Division I schools, expect to see his recruitment take off with a strong summer and senior season.
F Taderrius Davis Taderrius Davis 6'7" | PF Miami | 2021 State FL 6-7 SOH Elite High School: Miami High
Davis was a one man 2-3 zone breaker this weekend, there were several times he caught the ball just above the foul line, turned and hit a jump shot. With a great motor and long arms, the forward battled around the hoop grabbing rebounds, blocking shots, and finishing inside. Davis ran the floor extremely well and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
