Zay Mayo Zay Mayo 6'1" | CG Southwest Edgecombe | 2022 State NC | 5’11 Point Guard | Southwest Edgecombe | 2022
Mayo was quite the floor general for seniors Keishon Porter Keishon Porter 6'4" | CG Southwest Edgecombe | 2020 State #336 Nation NC (Radford) and Dorien Ruffin in 2019-20, leading the way with 4.5 assists per game. He also put up 10.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest during his sophomore campaign and as one of the only returning faces to the varsity squad, he’ll be looked upon to lead the way in 2020-21. As he develops as an outside shooter over the next few seasons, he’ll be a point guard from the 252 area to watch.
Bennie Brooks Bennie Brooks 6'4" | CG East Carteret | 2021 State NC | 6’3 Guard/Wing | East Carteret | 2021
Brooks had a strong season for East Carteret, putting up 25.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 4.1 apg and 3.0 spg as they made it to the third round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs and posted a 22-4 record on the season. He’s instant offense whenever the ball comes his direction and is finding his way on the defensive end as well.
Jacob Nelson | 6’1 Wing/Forward | East Carteret | 2023
Nelson was one of the lone underclassmen that excelled on varsity for East Carteret in 2019-20. He posted 6.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.2 spg and 1.0 apg during his freshman season off the bench. Look for his role to grow a bit more heading into year 2 with the Mariners.
Josh Williams | 6’1 Guard | West Carteret | 2021
Williams returns to the West Carteret rotation after putting up favorable numbers during his junior season. He produced 8.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.2 spg and 1.6 apg with some seniors leading the way. With a bigger role entering his senior season, look for his role to grow, especially as a shooter on the perimeter.
Isaac Dobie Isaac Dobie 6'3" | SG First Flight | 2023 State NC | 6’0 Point Guard | First Flight | 2023
Dobie had an impressive debut on the varsity scene at First Flight. He’s a shifty 6-foot floor general that can make plays for himself and others. He averaged 9.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 apg and 1.0 spg in his first season for the Nighthawks. He’ll be one to keep an eye on over the next few seasons.
Amarion McCrae Amarion McCrae 6'4" | SF North Edgecombe | 2022 State NC | North Edgecombe
McCrae was an impressive option on the wing by season’s end for North Edgecombe. He returns as the Warriors’ third-leading scorer from a season ago after putting up 15.5 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.4 spg and 1.4 bpg in his sophomore campaign. Another deep playoff run is in his future after showcasing his sharpshooting on the wing this past season.
