While it’s still too early to put together a fair numerical ranking for these young prospects, we did come up with an 85-player watchlist of guys to keep an eye on over the next three years.
Last month, we posted a four-part series of who could potentially crack the top 5-10 spots if we did decide to publish a true ranking, based on first-year performance and long-term potential. Below we take a look at more players to track over the next three seasons.
Denzel Hines Denzel Hines 6'5" | PF Colony | 2023 State CA , Colony – Hines is just scratching the surface as far as his basketball skill-set. The 6-foot-7 forward/center played varsity minutes off the bench last season, but should see an increased role as a sophomore. Hines is mobile in transition, has good hands and vertical leaping ability, which leads us to believe he will be a high percentage paint finisher.
Keyon Kensie Keyon Kensie 6'7" | SF Taft | 2023 State CA-S , Lynwood – Kensie has all the size, length and athleticism of a potential Division I wing. The rising sophomore has smooth shooting ability from three point range and create shots for himself off the bounce. His fluid athleticism and long strides allow him to cover ground easily and transition and glide to the rim for paint finishes.
Kollen Murphy Kollen Murphy 6'2" | PG Colony | 2023 State CA-S , Colony – Murphy continues to progress at a good rate as the crafty lefty has shown the ability to play both on or off the ball as needed. He has good speed in the open court, gets to the rim with his burst of speed and can finish over length. Murphy can knock down the catch-and-shoot three with time and space.
Rockwell Reynolds Rockwell Reynolds 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita | 2023 State CA-S , Santa Margarita – Reynolds earned himself some minutes as a freshman the way most young bigs do: With his defense. The 6-foot-8 center has impressive timing on shot blocks and shot contests around the basket. Offensively, Reynolds has good hands and touch out to the three-point line, but needs to add strength to his wiry frame to better finish through contact.
Xavier Ogle Xavier Ogle 5'8" | PG Rancho Bernardo | 2023 State CA-S , Rancho Bernardo – Ogle is a lightning quick point guard who is best in transition. The 5-foot-8 rising sophomore uses his speed to get into the paint and create shots for teammates or finish in the paint himself. Ogle’s next steps will be learning to change pace and becoming a more consistent perimeter shooter.
