This should most definitely change when you look at the fact that these teams come to the state tournament and perform well every single year at all levels. The Greater Spokane League (GSL) and Mid Columbia Conference (MCC) are just a couple of the many leagues with talented and hard working college prospects. For part one of Eastern Washington area prospects to know in 2021 class, follow the link here. Below is part two of some of the names to know out of Eastern Washington in the 2021 (rising senior) class.
2021 6’2 SG Haden Hicks Haden Hicks 6'2" | SG Prosser | 2021 State WA (Prosser HS) is a super sleeper in the 2021 class! He has next level athleticism that allows him to attack the basket and score, but also rebound at a high level for his 6’2 height. Hicks plays for a small school in Prosser, but he has plenty of game to hold his own against bigger schools.
2021 6’1 PG Garrett Long Garrett Long 6'2" | PG Wenatchee | 2021 State WA (Wenatchee HS) is the real deal as a high IQ play maker. Long can fill it up from the outside and he is strong and confident with the ball in his hands. National scout Gerry Freitas recently scouted the Long and touted him as a Division 1 prospect based on his performance at the Boss of Ball Showcase. *Feature image
2021 6’6 SF Messiah Jones Messiah Jones 6'6" | SF Kamiakin | 2021 State WA (Kamiakin HS) is one of the top multi-sport athletes in the state with his growing scholarship list on the gridiron. If Jones so chooses, he could also play college basketball. He is strong, athletic, coachable and plays with a good motor. Some colleges may try to get him to play both, but it is still up in the air. He projects as a 4/3 at the next level with high post, short corner and maybe even wing attack potential with continued progression.
2021 6’10 C Gavin Gilstrap Gavin Gilstrap 6'10" | C Central Valley | 2021 State WA (Central Valley HS) made his mark at the 4A state tournament in March when he helped lead CV to a runner-up finish. Gilstrap is one of the state’s most imposing post players at 250 pounds, wide shoulders and a pretty soft touch around the basket. His mobility and conditioning has gotten a bit better each year and that is the key to taking that next step forward for him. Progression is all you ever want from players and he has made that!
