There was a lot of incredible talent all weekend and was a great showcase of the elite talent the state of Texas has to offer. Be on the lookout for the rest of my in-depth analysis from this tournament!
Bryon Armstrong Bryon Armstrong 6'3" | SG Antonian College Prep | 2021 State TX 6’2 Antonian Prep School, Next Level Raiders 2021 Elite
Byron is a great combo guard who sets up his teammates well with creative passes. He is very strong and plays bigger than he really is, showing great ferocity and energy. He was seemingly everywhere on the court and even protected the rim and get rebounds. His true expertise lies in his ability to get to the rim, and bully defenders off the dribble and get to wherever he wants on the court. He is a very skilled ball-handler and has a multitude of dribble moves that he can quickly get to his jumper from. He even has a nice side dribble step back that he hit a handful of times throughout the tournament.
Jacob Harvey Jacob Harvey 6'1" | PG Huffman | 2021 State TX 6’2 Jack Yates High School, Texas Takeover Major 17U
Latrell is an athletic shooter who finishes very well at the rim. He has the ability to hit deep NBA range three-pointers when left alone and showed real confidence in his game. He is great on the defensive side of the ball and plays the passing lanes very well and seems to see plays happen before they do. He loves turning his steals into instant offense on the other side of the floor.
Jahvante O’Connor 6’1 Austin High School, THP ELite 17U White
Jahvate is an athletic guard with good length and a tight handle that allows him to break down defenders with ease. He showed a multitude of moves and options out of the triple threat and broke them off with simple fakes and jabs. He showed a great ability to shoot off the dribble as well as get by his defender and get to the rim. I would like to see more work at finishing over bigger forwards and maybe add a soft floater to get off over length. He has all the tools to succeed and be a true scoring machine.
Ryan Salinas 5’8 Brandeis High School, San Antonio Strykers
Ryan is a sharpshooting guard who sets up his teammates well. He is an intelligent and patient player who knows when to attack the defense and pressure them at the rim. He loves to drive into the paint and force the defense to collapse around him and kick the ball out to open teammates. He created so many great looks for his teammates and fired crisp passes into their shooting pocket allowing them to rise up and hit shots at an even higher clip.
