Landen Dvorsky Landen Dvorsky 5'11" | CG Liberty | 2022 State CO – Pluto Prospects
Dvorsky is the perfect off-ball guard for Pluto, and it has me excited to see what he will do in the high school season with playing on the ball a bit more as well. He fills in every gap when needed, and in the Hardwood Classic Session 2, he was a high IQ complimentary player that did not make many mistakes. Even in Pluto’s second game of the day when CarrolGoL1ve attempted to press, he was a calming force that made smart-reads to break the trap quickly. His ability to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court as a stay ready-shooter makes the defense have to know where he is at all times, and when they don’t, he makes them pay. He hit a couple of shots, he made his mid-range pull-ups and is a player that can be placed in any system as you know what you’re going to get from him—solid Day 2 for this stock riser.
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" | CG Mead | 2022 State CO – Colorado Roughriders
Knudsen was the hot-hand in the Roughriders’ first game, and everyone knows the type of shooter that he is. The thing is, Knudsen can get going in bunches, and once he is cooking with both his shot falling and hitting the corner with his quickness, then you are in for a long day. Knudsen typically gets the ball from the wing as an off-ball scorer, but this weekend he is playing the point which is an exciting sight to see. Knudsen went for 25 points in the game with a mixture of 3-balls and creative finishes at the rim. He also continues to show that he can pass the ball as well. Roughriders play as a unit and have great chemistry, so when they are going both inside and out, they are one of the more entertaining teams to watch. I like point guard Knudsen.
Jayden Washington – Colorado Mayhem
Washington and his Mayhem team were in the Midwest Grind in Wichita, and while Washington plays up, he is undoubtedly a standout worth talking about. Washington already has the size and motor which stand out alone, but his ability to affect the game on the defensive end is what will keep him on the floor. He is always moving, is a relentless rebounder that goes after every board, and he also is a force down low scooping up every board that comes his way. On defense, he is a lean forward that can defend multiple positions, is active in the passing lanes, is not easily backed down, and also protects the paint. He is progressing as a scorer as well, and Mayhem made sure to run through him in their Saturday game. Washington is surging right now and has a high ceiling, that’s while playing up. With his age, he should feast.
Jordan McKay Jordan McKay 6'3" | SF Liberty | 2022 State CO – Pluto Prospects
McKay started to come alive on Day 2 for Pluto Prospects, and it added a different element to the team when he is in a groove. His ability to finish at or around the rim gives Pluto instant offense as they know they can dump it in and watch him go to work. In the morning game, his offense was flowing as he was using his size and strength to get shots that he feels comfortable with. He had a couple of finishes in traffic, was aggressive on the boards, which gave his team more opportunities, and he gave them a chance to win the game. In the second game of the day, the impact was felt on the defensive side of the ball. He showed that he could defend multiple positions, grab the board and get it up the court as well as protect the paint against players taller than he is. Once he combines both the offense and defense, he will be a tough player to contain.
Brock Wisne Brock Wisne 6'9" | PF Colorado Prep | 2022 State CO – Colorado Roughriders
It’s been repeated time and time, but that does not make it any less true, Wisne can score the basketball. When the Roughriders look lost or are sped up, the equalizer is finding Wisne at the high post or block and moving out the way and watching him go to work. He is a tough shot-taker, but a tough shot-maker that knows his way around the basket. He has excellent footwork and uses his body for easy scoring opportunities as well as getting to the FT line. What stood out for me this week was him trying harder on the defensive end of the floor as well as a lob pass to 7’foot teammate James Shiers James Shiers 7'1" | C Mead | 2022 State CO for a slam. Once Wisne opens up the rest of his game as a playmaker that can feel the defense for easy dump outs as well as applying himself as a capable isolation defender, then I don’t see many players in the state having a ceiling quite like his. He continued his dominant play of the summer on Day 2.
