Otto Landrum – Pluto Prospect
The way that Landrum has been playing in the couple of games that we have seen this summer all that you can think of is what could have been. If Landrum still played in Colorado he would be a Top-5 player in the state. He has great size at 6’8 and he also uses all of it as a glass cleaning paint beast that goes right up with the ball for easy baskets. In the first game he finished with a massive double-double where he had to have over 15 rebounds. He scored with ease down low and also had a fast break steal and dunk that showed off how well he moves as well as athleticism. Landrum is one of the best overall bigs of the summer and he started out the Hardwood Classic Session 2 well in Missouri.
Tabor Robison Tabor Robison 5'10" | CG Horizon | 2022 State CO – Colorado Roughriders
Robison was a player that stood out in the first game with his ability to affect the game. This was my first time seeing Robison in the lead guard role as he is usually delegated to play more off of the ball and he played well as the facilitator. He took care of the ball, he was aggressive with attacking and moving the defense and he also finished at the rim and got to the FT line. At time he may have over dribbled but that comes with trying to get acclimated to a new role, I expect that to get better moving forward. Robison is a hard-working guard that plays with a swagger to him. He is a hard-nosed defender that gets up on the opposing guard and is a player to watch.
James Shiers James Shiers 7'1" | C Mead | 2022 State CO – Colorado Roughriders
Shiers had a few turnovers and will have to fix that, but all in all, he played well. Shiers seems to play up to the competition. If he is against another big and skilled guy he is aggressive and looking to score and that is what he did here as he went against a 7’2 standout and held his own. He took outside shots to try and push the defender out, at least kept the defender honest, he showed good footwork down low on a couple of easy baskets but he used his size. He finished with the big guy and competed on the other end by altering some shots, especially on the defensive end. Shiers still has a long way to go but for a 7-footer to keep improving on small things when it all comes together he is going to be difficult to keep off of the floor.
Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO – Pluto Prospects
Howery is highly regarded as one of the best facilitators in the state and he went out for the first game and got everyone involved. He was maybe a bit too unselfish as he was making sure that everyone touched the ball and were happy so he did not hunt for his own shots in an apparent mismatch but that’s what you want from your leader. He sets the defense up with committing to the rim and then dumps it off for either an open kick out or a big man down low for an easy finish. Howery pushed the pace in the game, applied pressure on the defensive end, and also took care of the ball for Pluto to cruise for an easy victory. Howery is a player whose game translates well to the next level and more schools should be involved soon.
