Continue ReadingThe lack of a spring AAU season has not negatively impacted the recruitment of prospects in Wisconsin’s 2021 class. But, because college scouts are not yet able to watch 2021 players in live-action, Prep Hoops Wisconsin highlights seven of the best rising senior shooters in the state:
Patrick Baldwin Jr. Patrick Baldwin Jr. 6'9" | SF Sussex Hamilton | 2021 State #2 Nation WI — Sussex Hamilton — SF
Baldwin is the best player in Wisconsin’s 2021 class and it is not even close. The small forward is head and shoulders above his peers because of his unparalleled ability to convert on jump shots. Standing at 6-foot-10, Baldwin can get — and make — any shot that he wants. When he gets in a good shooting rhythm, Baldwin is simply unguardable.
Cameron Palesse Cameron Palesse 6'3" | CG Waukesha West | 2021 State #249 Nation WI — Waukesha West — CG
Palesse’s pull-up jumper is as good as it gets. The 6-foot-4 guard has great dribbling skills, which he uses to get by his defender. Once Palesse gets past his defender, he is creative enough to find ways to get a bucket without taking the ball to the rim. Thanks to his shooting touch, Palesse averaged 24.5 points per game as a junior.
Brayden Dailey Brayden Dailey 6'6" | SF Cuba City | 2021 State WI — Cuba City — SF
By no means is Dailey an underrated prospect in Wisconsin’s 2021 class, but his sensational junior season might have been a little underappreciated. The small forward dominated in the 2019-20 season, averaging 23.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while helping the Cubans to a 25-0 record. Dailey was able to put up such big numbers thanks in large part to his accurate jump shot.
Brandin Podziemski Brandin Podziemski 6'6" | SG Saint John's Northwestern Academy | 2021 State #232 Nation WI — SG — SJNMA
Podziemski proved himself as an elite shooter during the 2019-20 season. The shooting guard averaged 27.6 points per game while leading his team to a 19-6 record. Podziemski is a deadly shooter from behind the arc, but he also is able to knock down pull up jumpers in the midrange. The lefty has blossomed into one of the state’s best overall marksmen.
Ben Nau Ben Nau 6'1" | PG Brookfield Central | 2021 State WI — Brookfield Central — PG
Nau doesn’t put up huge numbers, but he is extremely efficient and excels as a shooter. He made 39 percent of his shots from three last year and was big reason for the great success of Brookfield Central. Nau is also one of the more clutch players in the state. When his team needs a big shot, the point guard typically steps up.
Zac Johnson Zac Johnson 6'3" | SG River Falls | 2021 State WI — River Falls – SG
Johnson is possibly the state’s best shooter, regardless of class. The shooting guard made 76 triples last season as a junior and tallied 498 total points. He also converted on 60 percent of his shots from the field. College scouts should keep an eye on Johnson because his shooting prowess makes him a very attractive prospect.
Jakobe Thompson Jakobe Thompson 6'1" | PG Racine Case | 2021 State WI — Racine Case — PG
Thompson is one of the more streaky shooters in Wisconsin. When the point guard gets hot, he is almost unstoppable. From time to time, Thompson does experience cold streaks, but he is typically shooting the ball very well. In the 2019-20 season, the PG was efficient, averaging 19 points per game and converting on 48 percent of his shots.
