We recently unveiled our first edition of the Class of 2023 Prep Hoops Illinois Rankings. Now it is time to examine the 2023 Wing Prospects at the top of the board in the class!

[player_tooltip player_id="939056" first="Bryce" last="Coleman"] (St. Joseph)

Coleman narrowly edges out a strong group of wings for the top spot in the first rankings. We were so impressed with what we saw out of this 6’4” small forward during the season. The Catholic League two guard has a high release on his shot and he shoots it at a nice percentage from beyond the arc. His strength allows him to finish around the cup and he is a sound rebounder for a two guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="989263" first="Asa" last="Thomas"] (Lake Forest)

Thomas has a ton of helium after a strong freshman season at Lake Forest. The 6’5” two guard has a big time perimeter jump shot. Moves well without the ball to get open and has a lightning quick release from catch to shot. Such a skilled all-around game handling it with ease and passing very well for an off guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="939055" first="Cameron" last="Christie"] (Rolling Meadows)

Christie has already landed a high-major offer from Michigan State. The 6’2” shooting guard has a very skilled all-around game that likes using his creative handles getting in the lane, changing gears, and scoring with runners. Like his older brother the pull up from mid-range is a strength as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="989264" first="Ty" last="Pence"] (St. Joseph Ogden)

Pence emerged on our radar with the tape we broke down from his freshman season. Plus plus shooter that has really deep range on his three point shot. Has solid athleticism being able to finish above the rim on his drives to the hoop. His size at 6’5” and shooting prowess standout the most early on.

[player_tooltip player_id="939071" first="Jordan" last="Pickett"] (Belleville East)

Pickett is the younger brother of current Mizzou standout Javon Pickett. Jordan is a powerfully built shooting guard. He is at his best getting downhill with his strength. When he has a head of steam behind him he is a tough cover. Works well in ball screens as a driver, passer, and pull up shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="939074" first="Khalil" last="Ross"] (Lincoln Way East)

Ross didn’t play a ton on varsity this past season, but there is no denying the upside that he presents as a prospect. Long and slender 6’5” lefty is so explosive off the bounce getting to the rim. Capable passer. Major upside as a two way wing going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="939073" first="Macaleab" last="Rich"] (East St. Louis)

Rich is built like an outside linebacker. He fit right in on a veteran East St. Louis squad this past season. The small forward brings toughness on both ends of the floor with his defense and rebounding. Quick to the offensive glass and improved as a perimeter shooter as the year went along.

[player_tooltip player_id="939065" first="Ethan" last="Kizer"] (Metamora)

Kizer is known for his long hair and big time hops! That was evident throughout his freshman season. The bouncy small forward plays above the rim with his elite athleticism. What really stood out was how well he handled it playing on the ball and dishing the rock. Quality shooter as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="939068" first="Sam" last="Lewis"] (OPRF)

Lewis is another wing that didn’t see a ton of time on varsity this year, but he has considerable upside. The rangy small forward stands at 6’5” with a skilled all-around game. Smooth jump shot and can put it on the deck with his long strides.

[player_tooltip player_id="939076" first="Xavier" last="Sulaiman"] (Marist)

Really like the defensive ability this 6’2” shooting guard brings to the table. He has long arms which allow him to get into his opponents as well as in passing lanes. On the other end he is at his best putting it on the deck and slashing to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="989266" first="Brayden" last="Long"] (Yorkville Christian)

Like many from Yorkville Christian this 6’3” shooting guard can really let it fly from the perimeter. He is a lights out threat from three hitting them at a 40% clip as a freshman. Mixes in crisp mid-range jumpers as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="989267" first="Jake" last="Hamilton"] (Sacred Heart Griffin)

Hamilton jumped on our radar during the second half of the high school season. The 6’3” shooting guard is a crafty player that has nifty finishes maneuvering the ball in the paint. Clean shooting stroke with a quick release.

[player_tooltip player_id="939051" first="Darrion" last="Baker"] (St. Rita)

Baker missed part of the season with injuries, but we are intrigued with this 6’6” small forward. Excellent size already with a big frame and plus athleticism. Attacks downhill with force. Capable three point shooter. Potential to be a two way standout down the line.

[player_tooltip player_id="989270" first="Richard" last="Barron"] (St. Ignatius)

Barron is a 6’3” power wing that is at his best slashing with power going downhill. Good overall offensive skill package with the chance to develop as a shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="939060" first="Raeshom" last="Harris"] (Hyde Park)

Harris is an active and athletic freshman wing to track long term. Flashes some intriguing tools. Jumped off the floor to us when we saw him at the Proviso West tournament.
