In Part 3, we went through 11-20.
Top 40 Regardless Of Class: 11-20
Here is the big moment – THE TOP 10. Keep in mind that this list will cover the classes of 2021-2023. It’s a huge compliment to be anywhere on this list, as all 40 players have the look of a D1 prospect. In addition, it’s generally easier to rank the upperclassmen higher simply because we’ve seen more. Please leave comments and what your version of the list would look like!
#10
Sonny Wilson Sonny Wilson 6'0" | PG UD Jesuit | 2023 State #189 Nation MI (2023, PG, UD Jesuit)
Wilson is our top ranked freshman in the class of 2023, in a very tight mix of talent at the top. He has the looks of a big time playmaking guard in the years to come.
#9
Kareem Rozier (2022, PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Rozier is an absolute bulldog on the basketball court. With his skill set and court demeanor, I see him as a can’t miss prospect and a sure thing for a big influence at the next level.
#8
Legend Geeter Legend Geeter 6'7" | PF River Rouge | 2021 State MI (2021, F, River Rouge)
Geeter is absolutely blowing up on the recruiting scene right now. And it’s about time. Geeter has a very high ceiling and if you made me pick a few prospects that I think have NBA potential, he’s 1 of my choices.
#7
Julian Roper Julian Roper 6'4" | PG St. Mary's Prep | 2021 State #137 Nation MI (2021, PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Fans of Northwestern basketball will remember the day that Roper signed. The athletic playmaker in the backcourt is a threat from anywhere.
#6
Jaden Akins Jaden Akins 6'3" | PG Ypsi Prep | 2021 #87 Nation KS (2021, PG, Farmington)
Akins is the definition of a big shot taker. Everyone wants the ball in his hands in key moments of the game. Akins will create a look for himself or a teammate, and if the shot is his, he’ll deliver.
#5
JaVaughn Hannah JaVaughn Hannah 6'4" | SG Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2022 State #221 Nation MI (2022, SG, Mt. Clemens)
Hannah is a scorer among scorers. If your team needs a bucket, you want a player like him to have the ball. Better yet, he’s not dependent on a huge number of shots in order to put up big numbers.
#4
Pierre Brooks Pierre Brooks 6'5" | SG Detroit Douglass | 2021 State #76 Nation MI II (2021, SG, Detroit Frederick Douglass)
Brooks recently committed to Tom Izzo and Michigan State University. That says enough. Brooks II is a master of his craft, using an elite skill set and basketball IQ to stand above the crowd.
#3
Kobe Bufkin Kobe Bufkin 6'4" | SG Grand Rapids Christian | 2021 State #71 Nation MI (2021, CG, Grand Rapids Christian)
Bufkin is piling up offers from many big name schools including Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State. The smooth flowing lefty and has a tough swooping drive and incredible touch on the ball.
#2
Ty Rodgers Ty Rodgers 6'6" | SF Grand Blanc | 2022 #34 Nation IN (2022, SF, Grand Blanc)
I’m going to scream it from the rafters – TY RODGERS IS A TOP 20-30 2022 PROSPECT IN THE COUNTRY. He’s a phenomenal athlete and a nasty finisher around the rim. Rodgers has all the tools to be a legend.
#1
Emoni Bates (2022, G/F, Ypsilanti-Lincoln)
Surprise, surprise right? Bates is considered the top prospect regardless of class in the country. We’ve heard all about his skills and we’ve all heard the comparisons to players like Kevin Durant. But what’s really important to recognize is how he got here – Through hard work, hours in the gym, and the willingness to work as hard or harder than any player in the country. That’s not easy, but Bates has done it.
