Remember, these are not player rankings but how much they impact their team along with the talent they go against during the season.
A lot of these players in the end can be put in different rankings for the final-36, but now I am looking for players who are putting up stats while winning games. Not an easy task to do. Most will have one or the other.
Here are the top seven or six actually:
Dasean Lecque Dasean Lecque 6'0" | CG Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State #207 Nation AZ (Desert Vista)
-Arguably the most impactful player next season in 6A is Lecque. He can take over games with his scoring and does it in style. He will look to lead the Thunder back to the 6A Chip and attempt to repeat. He averaged 18.4 points 2.9 assists 2.8 rebounds 1.4 and steals per game. He is a POY candidate for 6A.
Bailon Black Bailon Black 6'4" | CG Ironwood | 2021 State AZ (Ironwood)
-Black will arguably be the most impactful in 5A next season. He showed you glimpses of what he could be (including 17 points in the 5A Chip) on a talented senior roster with five college players graduating. He will consume a lot of their stats next season and look to lead them back to the finals and also try to repeat. He averaged 12.8 points 4 assists 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He is a POY candidate for 5A.
Jalen Scott Jalen Scott 6'3" | PG Paradise Honors | 2021 State AZ (Paradise Honors)
-One of the top players last year in 3A and he will be a POY candidate in 4A. He averaged 12.1 points 6.1 assists 5.1 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. The two-way player is arguably the top passer in the state and can control games with his vision and scoring. The Panthers will compete immediately in 4A behind Scott.
Carson Basham Carson Basham 6'10" | C AZ Compass Prep | 2021 State AZ (Sunnyslope)
-The big man will be a POY candidate for 6A. They lost five key players in the off season and the Vikings most likely will play through Basham. He averaged 14 points 9.2 rebounds 1.7 assists and 2.8 blocks per game. Don’t be surprised to see him avg 20+ points per game and 10+ rebounds next season.
Kevin Kogbara Kevin Kogbara 6'6" | PF Skyline Prep | 2022 AZ (Peoria)
-The strong forward had a very good season. He averaged 12.4 points 2.9 assists 6.4 rebounds 2.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He is extremely versatile and plays the 1-5 for them. Some firepower left with Isaac Monroe Isaac Monroe 5'11" | PG Peoria | 2020 State AZ and Deandre Petty Deandre Petty 5'10" | SG Peoria | 2020 State AZ . The Panthers lost in in the 4A Chip and look to get back there behind Kogbara. He is a POY candidate for 4A.
Justus Jackson Justus Jackson 6'0" | PG Eduprize | 2021 State AZ (Millennium) (Pictured)
-The new face of the Tigers program will be Jackson. He averaged 14.4 points 5.4 assists 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. The athletic scoring PG will have a lot on his shoulders this season. Rumors always go around this time of the year and it will be interesting if A) Justus stays at Millennium and B) Who will come join him now that Holmes is transferring. He may average over 25 points per game and he’ll definitely be a POY candidate in 5A.
DaRon Holmes II DaRon Holmes II 6'8" | PF Montverde Academy | 2021 State #44 Nation FL (Montverde Academy)
-I obviously made this list before Holmes declared that he will be attending the prestigious Montverde Academy for his senior season. So for now, I only have a final-6 as far as the AIA is concerned. I will add others who can make an impact next season on Thursday and Friday. The staff at Prep Hoops AZ wishes DaRon II good luck next season and in college.
