With the tip of the summer ball rolling around, these exclusive runs are growing more important as players build their way toward playing shape. Thanks to trainer and head coach of Texas Dynasty Zack Rodriguez, I could catch a few names to watch in 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes.
Drew Steffe Drew Steffe 6'6" | PG Frisco Memorial | 2023 State #122 Nation TX Frisco Memorial 2023
Steffe was the only 2023 prospect in attendance and thanks to a 2-3 inch growth spurt he was one of the biggest guards in attendance. He’s taken steps as a playmaker, really getting his teammates involved before adding his scoring touch. Showed that same smooth touch from the perimeter and on floaters that fuel his scoring.
Jack Pease Highland Park 2021
At times Pease was the best offensive player on the court. During his Mark Price impersonation, he threw flashy passes, finished around length, and hit shots from 3 if anyone dares give him breathing room. Not the tallest guy on the court however a strong frame and being quick with the ball makes him a tough matchup.
Avery Jackson Frisco Memorial 2022
Jackson the smooth 2022 ball handler showed strong two-way play. He’s dead eye when shooting the three, especially off the bounce, and finished well at the rim against 6-8 post players. The rising junior is an active defender that moves his feet and plays with quick hands.
Nicholas Jett Frisco Heritage HS 2022
Jeff’s game really settled in as play went along. His hustle was the first thing to pop getting a tip in early and fighting for boards as a 6-2 guard. The pull up jumper started to fall. Then he settled into the post for a few fadeaways. He played solid defense throughout while being efficient on offense.
Austin Page 2021
Page gets my vote for the best post scorer in attendance. Uses great footwork and head fakes. He runs the floor, competes on the boards, and has nice touch on his shots from ten feet in.
Chase Kennedy Chase Kennedy 6'3" | SF Episcopal School Dallas | 2022 TX Episcopal School of Dallas 2022
A chiseled 6-4 frame and powerful athleticism helped Kennedy do everything on the court. He plays with energy on the defensive end, playing passing lanes and recording a chase down block. Shows a knack for passing as a secondary playmaker. A vocal leader that directed traffic during each game.
Jack Slaughter Bishop Lynch 2021
Slaughter’s mid range jump shot is automatic from free throw line extended. He stepped behind the arc to hit a three when the defense sagged off. Had a strong night on the boards.
Ben Johnson Jesuit College Prep 2022
If you’re looking for a shooter in 2022, add Johnson to your list now. He’s a marksman from three, midrange, and with floaters. His touch is the same whether he’s pulling up, running off a screen, or as the trail man. Shows some heady play on defense, drawing a charge during the final game.
