Kenny Smith, Kenny Anderson, Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair, Shamorie Ponds, and Cole Anthony are just some of the many well-known point guards that New York City has produced. Here are some point guards from New York’s 2021 Class that hope to continue that tradition of New York City point guards excelling at the next level.
Jaylen “Juju” Murray: Putnam Science Academy
Jaylen Juju Murray is one of the more underrated players in New York’s 2021 Class. The Bronx native is one of the best ball handlers in the country and he has the defensive tenacity to match his crafty offensive game. In various games and events against high-level competition time and time again Murray has shown that not only does he belong with players ranked higher than him, but that he’s just as good as them.

Khalil Brantley Khalil Brantley 5'10" | PG Boys & Girls | 2021 State #176 Nation NY is the Best Scorer in New York City’s Public School Athletic League (PSAL). Brantley can get to any spot on the court at will and has the range to convert from any spot. He’s not a one-dimensional player either. In addition to his deadly scoring, he’s a very good passer and a solid defender. Brantley’s advanced offensive arsenal makes him one of the best Point Guards in New York’s 2021 Class.

Jaquan Carlos Jaquan Carlos 5'11" | PG Jefferson | 2021 State #180 Nation NY has an outstanding feel for the game. He has great court vision that allows him to see plays for his teammates before they develop, and get to his favorite spots on the court when he does look to score. The game always seems to be played at his pace as he is rarely out of control. He’s also showed that he’s more than capable of hitting jump shots from mid-range and from beyond the arc consistently.
Malachi Smith: St Raymond High School
Malachi Smith is at his best when he’s attacking the rim and operating inside the 3 point line. Smith is very good at finishing through contact, shooting floaters when he gets to the lane, and finishing around bigger defenders with either hand. He’s also good at shooting pull up mid-range jumpers and at shooting catch and shoot corner 3’s.

Sterling Jones Sterling Jones 5'10" | PG Christ The King | 2021 State NY has a great change of direction. He does a great job of controlling the game as a Point Guard. He’s a very good decision maker and has shown that he can finish at the basket in a variety of ways. Defensively Jones is a good on-ball defender and plays the passing lanes very well. Jones 2-Way ability makes him one of the best PG’s in New York’s 2021 Class.
