The versatile 6-foot-5, 185-pound swingman from Central Catholic has spent a lot of time hanging out with family but has been spending some time working on his game as well. Gakwasi has also spent some time working on his recruitment and currently two schools stand out in front for him in the process.
“Right now I’m getting ready to choose between Stanford and Princeton,” Gakwasi said. “I think those are the two schools that have my best interests and that I can really see myself at.”
Like others during this period of time, Gakwasi has spent the recruiting process via Zoom and it’s through that method he’s been able to get a glimpse of both schools and connect with their programs.
“I’ve gotten to see Stanford’s campus and I’ve gotten to see Princeton’s campus,” Gakwasi said. “I’m just connecting with the staffs, talking to them a lot so it’s just up to me to make my decision. I just want to explore all my options and see what’s possible and then I’ll know.”
Gakwasi doesn’t have a timeline on when he’ll decide as he’s taking his time with everything. Instead his main focus has been to get himself ready for AAU basketball with Oregon Prospects whenever it starts back up for them and then his senior season and beyond.
“I’ve been working out, just getting better,” Gakwasi said. “I’ve been lifting a little bit, trying to get stronger – pretty much the basic stuff. I’m trying to get more athletic to be able to play my freshman year at the next level.”
Gakwasi currently ranks as the #6 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
