Washington’s current freshman and soon to be sophomore class has a chance to be really strong and two players are already ranked in the top 100. Oregon is also represented in the top 150 upping the total nationally ranked prospects to four in the Pacific Northwest.
Washington Ranked Players:
Prospect: 6’5 Jaylin Stewart Jaylin Stewart 6'7" | SG Garfield | 2023 State #71 Nation WA
HS: Garfield (WA)
Club: Seattle Rotary
National Ranking: #71 Overall
National Position Ranking: #18 Small Forward
Notes: The son of Rainier Beach legend Lodrick Stewart and nephew of fellow Washington raised legends Tre Simmons and Rodrick Stewart, Jaylin Stewart Jaylin Stewart 6'7" | SG Garfield | 2023 State #71 Nation WA is the next one in line and he has a chance to be the best of them all. Expectations are sky high with that statement and there is a lot of work to be done, but he has the fortune of knowledge and experience surrounding him when you add in the fact that Brandon Roy is his high school coach. Stewart is still growing and growing into his body and he projects as a big wing that can score it from all three levels. Do not be surprised if Jaylin gets up to 6’8-6’9. He currently holds offers from Washington and Montana.
Prospect: 6’3 Brooklyn Hicks
HS: Timberline
Club:
National Ranking: #100
National Position Ranking: #23 Shooting Guard
Notes: One of the few freshman in the state to already hold a Division 1 offer (Eastern Washington), Hicks had an outstanding freshman season at Timberline High School. His name is just starting to really get out there, but Prep Hoops is a step ahead, as is often the case. A pure scorer with a slick handle, Hicks is following in the footsteps of former Timberline standout Erik Stevenson who has transferred to Washington from Wichita State.
Oregon Ranked Players:
Prospect: 6’6 Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ
HS: Jefferson
Club: Rose City Rebels
National Ranking: #37 Overall
National Position Ranking: #7 Small Forward
Notes: The most highly recruited and sought after recruit in the Pacific Northwest for the 2023 class. “Mookie” is strong, athletic and versatile at 6’6. An above average ball handler that excels at creating his own shot. His advanced frame and athleticism helps him dominate at times at the high school level. He currently holds offers from Oregon, Washington, Pacific, San Francisco, Bryant and Washington State. Overall, Mookie is one of the best players to come out of Oregon in multiple years! *Feature image
Prospect: 5’11 Jackson Shelstad Jackson Shelstad 6'0" | PG West Linn | 2023 State #55 Nation OR
HS: West Linn
Club: West Coast Elite
National Ranking: #131 Overall
National Position Ranking: #32 Point Guard
Notes: A dynamic and shifty point guard with a whole lot of game. Shelstad has an outstanding basketball IQ making him a presence on both sides of the ball, despite his thinner frame at this stage. Can hit the midrange or deep three ball on offense. Shelstad holds a handful of offers including Eastern Washington, Bryant, Cal Poly, Montana, Montana State and Portland State.
