Vince Barringer 6’5 SG Saint Francis 2022 (#65PHNC 2022) – Barringer is the ultimate “looks the part guy”, a big strapping shooter. How much you like him depends on how many shots you saw him make. Barringer showed no lack of confidence and the ability to shoot it from both mid range and from 3. He didn’t really do much outside of that, but his stroke combined with his frame made him one of the more intriguing prospects at the camp.
Billy Barnes 6’3 SG TMG Prep 2020 – Barnes was one of the few 2020 players at the camp. His maturity showed in his poise, and understanding of how to play the game. If a coach was searching for the perfect role player, Barnes would be it. Does all the little things, played within himself, but never missed an opportunity to make a positive impact play.
Riley Fornerette Riley Fornerette 6'0" | PG Dysart | 2021 State AZ 5’10 PG Dysart 2021 (#88PHA 2021) (feature image) – It was an up and down week for Fornerette, but when he’s good, he’s really good. Has a nice handle, is a willing passer and can shoot it with range.
Jayden Morris 5’9 PG Sacramento 2022 – Morris has everything you want in a jitterbug PG. He plays with the ball on a string, has blow by ability and knows how to finish over and under bigs in the lane.
Timothy Cochrane Timothy Cochrane 6'5" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’5 SF Williams Field 2021 (#51PHA 2021) – I went back and forth between putting Cochrane in the standout or sleeper category. At the end of the day, I feel like sleeper is more applicable. He’s a good driver with an underated wiggle to his game, who runs the floor hard. Perhaps his best attribute may just be his ability to make game impacting plays.
Daryian Matthews Daryian Matthews 6'5" | PF Dysart | 2021 State AZ 6’4 PW Dysart 2021 (#102) – I get that he’s undersized and played at a small school, but the kid flat out knows how to rebound the basketball. He dominated the glass at both ends. Matthews has a wide body and strong hands, he has a chance to be the perfect small school undersized 4.
Jaylen Wesley Jaylen Wesley 6'4" | PF McClintock | 2022 State AZ 6’3 PF McClintock 2022 (#51PHA 2022) – I don’t think you can mention rebounding or sleepers without mentioning Wesley. He was one of the most dominating rebounders in the state last season, with 18 double digit rebounding games. He showed the same elite skill at the camp. Similar to Matthews, Wesley has extremely strong hands, and does his rebounding work early, relentlessly hunting the ball off the backboard while carving out space in the lane.
Malachi Murrell 6’2 SF La Quinta 2022 – Murrell was perhaps the top sleeper at the camp. Extremely bouncy athlete, that does everything with energy and effort. Murrell has extremely long arms and a quick second jump, which made him one of the best out of area rebounders at the camp. He snagged several boards he had no business getting. An explosive athlete, Murrell was most effective getting out in transition, and finishing around the basket.
