It also featured several players willing to sit in a stance and lock up. In this article we take a look at some of the top defensive players from the Phhacility exposure camp.
Kiran Oliver Kiran Oliver 6'4" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2021 State AZ 6’4 SG Phoenix Prep 2021 (#6PHA 2021) – One of the more versatile defenders at the camp. Oliver was all arms when harassing perimeter ballhandlers, and he made his presence known in the paint. Oliver used his freakish athleticism to alter and block several shots during the weekend.
Jayson Petty Jayson Petty 6'4" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ 6’3 SF Centennial 2022 – Petty is a scrappy on ball defender. Has good lateral quickness and brings the fight to the offensive player. Type of guy that can really get under your skin with his effort and intensity. He was one of the best junk yard dog defenders at the camp.
Dominque Daniels 5’9 PG TMG Prep 2021 – I saw quite a bit of Daniels act during the high school season. He played in the backcourt with McDonald’s all American guard Daishen Nix. Very easy to identify what his role was. He has tremendous lateral quickness, and is a pitbull defender that showed the ability to harass ballhandlers full court.
Brock Susko 6’3 SF Los Altos 2021 (#82PHNC 2021) – Susko was the definition of a willing defender. Played with good energy and effort. He’s an above average athlete that used his run and jump ability to harass wing players, and grab defensive rebounds. A good help defender, Susko was one of the few players to take a charge during the camp.
Jason Kimbrough Jr Jason Kimbrough Jr 6'1" | PG Bella Vista Prep | 2022 AZ 6’0 PG Mountain Pointe 2021 (#35PHA 2021) (featured image) – Kimbrough had the quickest hands at the camp. He was the best player I saw at bluffing and recovering. Kimbrough several times rotated over to scrap the ball away from the a driving offensive player. He was equally good both on the ball and in help defense.
