One event being held this weekend is the two-day Phhacility Exposure Camp in Phoenix. A few Southern California players are taking part in the camp, and here’s a look at some of the SoCal players to keep an eye on.
1. Devon Arlington Devon Arlington 6'3" | PG San Marcos | 2022 State CA-S – San Marcos 2022
Marcos is a solid floor leader and lead guard. He’s a point guard who can score. He has great body control around the rim and is an athletic finisher around the defense. He can create his own shot off the dribble and he can stop and pop on the break. He’s a crafty player who can get creative with his shot attempts and has great vision with his passing ability. Good outside shooter.
2. Malachi Murrell Malachi Murrell 6'2" | SF Shadow Hills | 2022 CA-S – La Quinta 2022
Murrell has the makings of being a solid wing player. He can handle the ball well, especially on the break, and he has solid playmaking ability. He’s able to draw the defense and either kick the ball out to shooters or find cutters along the baseline. He’s quick in transition and he has a good midrange shot. Can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Defensively, he has good length and he’s active around the rim in terms of shot blocking.
3. Damian Ruiz Damian Ruiz 6'2" | SG Linfield Christian | 2022 State CA-S – Murrieta Valley 2022
Ruiz is a solid guard with a knack for scoring. He’s a crafty ball-handler who can find the seams in the defense and can create his shot on the perimeter. He has a strong off the dribble game and can get to the rim where he has a solid little floater. Can shoot from distance and has range beyond the HS three-point line. When he gets hot from three, he’s difficult to stop. Strong stop and pop game.
4. Brock Susko – Los Altos 2021
Susko is a solid offensive threat. He can handle the ball and he can make plays off the dribble. He has a solid midrange game. He’s also very active around the rim and in the paint. He moves well without the ball and makes strong cuts to the rim. He’s a tireless worker on the glass and he can finish strong in traffic around the defense. Can get out in transition and has range out to the three-point line.
