The event included multiple showcase games from some of the top SoCal talent from each class (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and even a 2025 game. Here’s some of the top talent that I saw from the 2024 game.
1. Isaiah Elohim – Heritage Christian
Elohim showed off a lot of potential as a scoring guard. He’s very quick off the dribble and can get to the rim with ease. He’s able to bump off defenders and finish the play. He can finish strong at the rim and has good body control to avoid defenders. He can absorb contact and get himself to the free-throw line. Looks like he has a bright future ahead as he enters his first year of high school basketball.
2. Robert Bush – Los Altos
I first saw Bush play a year ago when he was still in middle school. He stood out as a player with good size in the paint who had some noticeable skill in the paint; more than other young players. He’s really refined his game as prepares to enter high school. He’s still strong in the paint and he can get to the free-throw line. He also showed off a new ability to handle the ball a little bit in the halfcourt.
3. David Valenzuela – Salem Lutheran
Valenzuela looked like he has the ability to develop into a solid lead point guard in high school. He has good vision, especially in halfcourt sets. He sees the floor and can find his teammates for easy looks. When leading the fast break, he keeps his head up and sees both the defense and his teammates running with him. Good decision maker with the ball in his hands.
4. James Evans – Santa Clarita
Evans looked like a player who might be able to play multiple positions at the high school level. In this particular game, he was playing the post, but his skill-set is a little more versatile than that. He can play on the wing a bit and he has good size if he ever does play as a wing full-time. He runs the floor well in transition and he can finish strong on the break.
