The event included multiple showcase games from some of the top SoCal talent from each class (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and even a 2025 game. Here’s some of the top talent that I saw from the second 2023 game.
1. Jazz Gardner Jazz Gardner 7'0" | C Los Altos | 2023 State #85 Nation CA-S – Los Altos
Gardner to me is one of the most intriguing prospects in Southern California. His combination of size and skill is rare. At 6’10, he towers over most of the competition and he is talented. He can play in the paint with his back to the basket and he has soft touch around the rim with a nice little hook shot. Defensively, he is capable of being a rim protector who can anchor a team’s defense. Very unselfish player too.
2. Xavier Edmonds Xavier Edmonds 6'8" | PF Bishop Montgomery | 2023 State #245 Nation CA-S – Bishop Montgomery
Edmonds is another big man with a nice combination of size and skill. He can establish post position and he takes his time when making a move. He doesn’t rush with his back to the basket and he can finish at the rim. He can get his shot off against most defenders, and especially take advantage of smaller defenders in the paint. Strong on the glass.
3. Jimmy Oladokun – Damien
Oladokun is a versatile big man with some wing skills. He can act as rim protector in the paint but he also has the length and speed to be able to defend players on the perimeter. He can stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Has a nice midrange jump shot. He can finish strong around the rim and he crashes the glass well.
4. Darius Carr Darius Carr 6'3" | SG Fairfax | 2023 State #63 Nation CA-S – St. Bernard
I’ve seen Carr play quite a bit this past season and his growth from last summer to now has been tremendous. He’s really coming into his own as a lead guard capable of running a team’s offense. He can also switch to shooting guard and look for his shot. He’s looking to be more aggressive offensively and he can finish strong at the rim. Good perimeter defensive player.
5. Kollen Murphy Kollen Murphy 6'2" | PG Colony | 2023 State CA-S – Colony
Murphy also looks like he’s going to be a solid lead guard. He’s a solid ball-handler and good facilitator who looks to get his teammates easy scoring opportunities. Strong court vision and poise. Nice change of pace. Can run the fast break effectively and he is very quick off the dribble. Also a solid defensive player.
