32. Lucas Osiecki | Junior | Hunter
Lucas Osiecki has impressed this season for Hunter. Hunter High School has a crowded varsity roster, and Osiecki was able to step in this year and greatly improve from his sophomore season performance, becoming a leader both on and off the court, which deserves credit given Hunter’s roster. Osiecki can be a great paint player, and also start at the perimeter and make his way to the basket.
31. Lamar Jack-Gibson | Junior | Julia Richman
Lamar Jack-Gibson is the ideal mold of a pass-first point guard. Jack-Gibson is not ball dominant, but at the same time, he can take on the ball at high volumes and use it efficiently. Jack-Gibson can distribute in bulk and make efficient passes, while he can also take the ball himself down to the rim, and leave with foul shots or two points, while he has a quick-trigger jumper ready when he needs it.
30. Israel Muboyayi | Junior | Harlem Village
The mold of Muboyayi is starting to fit the bill of the current evolution of basketball. A player with the size and Muboyayi would be plopped in the paint for the whole game 30 years ago, but now, Muboyayi’s team role has drastically changed. Muboyayi can still be a force in the paint on defense and offense, but he can also guard smaller forwards and wings as well as space the floor for point forwards on offense.
29. Christian Guzman | Junior | University Neighborhood
Christian Guzman checks all the boxes of a guard. Guzman can create offense out of defense by starting a fastbreak from a defensive success or even a quick inbound. Guzman can also penetrate with a high volume during the game and become the premier scorer on his team. Christian can also distribute the ball evenly and efficiently, giving his team more points than it seems.
28. Kazmere Johnson Logan | Junior | Chelsea Career
If there was one set player to define “shooting guard,” it would be Kazmere. Johnson Logan is able to become the primary option on offense, bringing up the ball and penetrating and distributing to dazzle the other team, while he can take a number 2 role. Here, he is able to find the cold zones of the defense to find where he can take his shot from.
27. Jalen Sabino | Junior | W.H.E.E.L.S
Jalen Sabino has had a rollercoaster ride in high school. Last year, Sabino excelled on the junior varsity team of W.H.E.E.L.S and was the scorer of the team, as well as the off-court leader. This year, Sabino made the transition to varsity. He couldn’t take the role of scorer, because that was filled. Sabino instead became the facilitating point guard, who executed the right passes to the right teammates.
26. Cody Mckeirnan | Junior | Xavier
Cody Mckeirnan is the typical three and D player. In a league where players have already committed to DI schools, Mckeirnan was still able to make a positive impact to his team. Mckeirnan has the speed to guard smaller guards and wings, while he also has the lower body strength to hold his own against centers and forwards. Mckeirnan also has a quick, high shot which makes it very tough to guard.
25. Ibrahim Kourouma | Junior | Chealsea Career
For the past twenty years, there has been a distinct trend in basketball where the floor is constantly expanded, to farther and farther from the basket, at all levels. This is because of players like Kourouma, who are excelling at shooting from deep. Kourouma is able to consistently put in multiple triples a night, while he can also drive to the basket and defend against wings and forwards.
