Continue ReadingIn an effort to provide new and unique ways to cover prospects, we thought it would be important to give some coverage to those that might not always get it. To do that, we will be digging deep into each conference in the state.
We will be breaking down each conference starting with the Class of 2021 first to show college coaches who they need to be placing a value on heading into the year.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these seniors-to-be catch the attention of prospective college coaches.
Conner Piehl Conner Piehl 5'11" | PG Tripoli | 2021 State IA – Tripoli
Battling for top overall player of the year honors in the conference next season will be Tripoli’s Conner Piehl Conner Piehl 5'11" | PG Tripoli | 2021 State IA .
Piehl averaged just under 15 points a night, shooting 40 percent from the floor and almost 30 percent from the three-point line.
He also led the Panthers with nearly three assists per game, finishing with 342 total points, 173 rebounds, 62 assists and 61 steals.
Jake Kennedy Jake Kennedy 6'0" | SG Dunkerton | 2021 State IA – Dunkerton
A handful of losses late in the year kept Dunkerton from recording a winning record, but they should be primed to get back to that mark behind junior Jake Kennedy Jake Kennedy 6'0" | SG Dunkerton | 2021 State IA .
Kennedy led the team at 10 points per game last year, shooting almost 40 percent from the field. He also recorded 58 rebounds, 25 steals, 24 assists and 11 blocked shots for the Raiders, making 28 three-pointers.
Taurice Grant Taurice Grant 5'11" | PG Meskwaki Settlement School | 2021 State IA – Meskwaki Settlement
It was a banner year for Meskwaki Settlement, claiming wins in all 14 conference games to secure the division title, as they went 18-5 overall.
Leading the way was Class of 2021 prospect Taurice Grant Taurice Grant 5'11" | PG Meskwaki Settlement School | 2021 State IA , who averaged just under 16 points, 6.6 assists and almost six rebounds a night.
Grant shot 55 percent from the field, over 32 percent from the three-point line and had 2.4 assists per turnover. He finished with 347 points, 145 assists, 123 rebounds and 113 steals for the Warriors.
Avery Bryant Avery Bryant 6'3" | PF GMG | 2021 State IA – GMG
As a junior, Avery Bryant Avery Bryant 6'3" | PF GMG | 2021 State IA led GMG at almost 15 points and 8.5 rebounds a night, helping the team place fifth in the Iowa Star – South division.
Bryant shot just under 46 percent from the field and almost 27 percent from the three-point line, finishing with 313 total points to go along with 179 rebounds.
He also had 26 assists and 26 steals.
Mason Markley – Collins-Maxwell
One of the top three-point shooters in the league, Collins-Maxwell’s Mason Markley will look to take over as the leader next season.
Markley made 42 triples last year, recording 230 total points with 98 rebounds and 16 steals for the Spartans. He shot 37 percent from the field and almost 32 percent from deep.
