The event featured multiple teams from Indiana, with several programs from Ohio joining in the fun as well. While my focus was spent on 15U, I still had the opportunity to check out a few 17U prospects. Take a look below at the 7 seniors-to-be that caught my attention this weekend.
Grant Jones Grant Jones 6'4" | SF Muncie Burris School | 2021 State IN (Men of the Family 17U)- #118 in Prep Hoops Indiana 2021 Rankings. Impressed me with his versatility for a bigger player. Only 6’4 but has the body and style of play for a PF. Defended the perimeter well, with quick foot movement and using his body. Made a few shots in the paint and showed an ability to score with his back to the basket.
Bryce Singleton (Dayton Elite 2021)- Smooth style of play; pretty decent touch around the rim and tenacious as a rebounder. Not the fastest player on the floor, but plays with a very high motor.
Caleb Swearingen Caleb Swearingen 6'4" | SG Northview | 2021 State IN (Men of the Family 17U) #137 in Prep Hoops Indiana 2021 Rankings. Multi-faceted guard. Gets his shot off with a high release, smooth follow through. High hustle kid and arguably one of the best shooters on display.
Kohl Todd (Dayton Elite 2021)- Smaller guard that showed he can play either guard positions this weekend. Streaky shooter but most importantly, a proven and elite passer. Great secondary scoring option for a guard focused Dayton Elite squad.
Kobe Ward (Men of the Family 17U) Nice sized wing. Can score in a multitude of ways and was a strong finisher in the paint. I especially thought his midrange shooting was the most impressive as he was able to pull-up with guys heavily defending him and over taller competition.
Ben Watkins (Indiana Elite Hoops Dreams)- Bouncy guard from Muncie Central High School. Utilized longer reach and athleticism to be a disruptive presence on the perimeter.
Demar Woods-Haskins (Indiana Elite Hoops Dreams)- Shifty defensive player that moves side-to-side and defends the perimeter extremely well. Gets the offense moving and orchestrates the half court setting.
