One Player To Watch: Braden Smith Braden Smith 6'0" | PG Westfield | 2022 State IN
Smith is a high-level talent that has improved so much in his two years at Westfield. He is on the smaller side under six feet, but his skill set more than makes up for it. He has knocked down his jumper at a consistent rate, and he can get to the rim, but he is more impressive in the other parts of the offense. His passing and rebounding abilities are off the charts as he always knows where the open player is, and he is never afraid to go up amongst the bigger players for a rebound. If he can improve on his scoring ability a little bit, he has the potential to be one of the best players in the state.
One Player We Need To See More: Sam Jacobs Sam Jacobs 6'4" | SF Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State IN
Jacobs is a tall wing that can shoot a bit and drive pretty well when in the open floor. He isn’t a player that can create time and time again, but he has the ability to make a play when the ball is in his hands. He showed he could be solid at times on guards and use his size well against their speed as he’s pretty quick on his own. We need to see if he can be a little bit more consistent, but he has shown a lot of good qualities so far.
One Player That Should Surprise: Larry Pierce Larry Pierce 6'5" | SF University | 2022 State IN
Pierce is a big wing with handles that could keep him down the lineup and more as a guard. He has good size, and he is beginning to fill out his frame more and more. He was able to show this newfound strength quite a bit on the defensive end and in terms of his aggressiveness on the glass. He has a decent looking jumper, a little slow on the release but high and very structured that should develop over time. If he can improve a little bit more on the scoring side, he could become a breakout player in the future.
