In its wake lay an eruption from a growing star in the young 2024 class, the rounding out of an already highly touted 2022’s game, a 2021 who plays bigger than his height, and another 2022 you just can’t keep out the paint. Many of these guys are polishing their newest trophies now.
Colin Smith Colin Smith 6'8" | PF AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #115 Nation AZ
Smith is ironing out dimensions to his scoring game. Through a short slump, he displayed off ball scoring by resetting the offense with a pass then calling for a down screen for an open three. It’s the first time I’ve seen the action through 5 games. Smith is thinking the game through as a 6-9 forward with the touch to score from three levels proficiently.
Petia Dogale
Petia Dogale has played larger than his list 6-5 all weekend. Standing next to other 6-8 and 6-9 forwards, he didn’t give space when entering the paint. He took a forward from Southern Assault’s loaded 16U off the dribble for a strong finish at the rim. Dogale has some ball skills to offset his mismatches. His combination of length and motor makes him an interesting prospect at lower major to D2 college levels.
Dorien Goodman Dorien Goodman 5'10" | PG Lancaster | 2022 State TX
Goodman has displayed next level separation thanks to his speed. At 5-9 his quickness allows him to get a foot in the paint when turning the corner. When he’s on the paint here’s closing at the rim or heading to the foul line.
Landon Brown
Brown’s considered one of the top guards in Texas’ 2024 class for a reason. As much as size, 6-1, and scoring 24 points in Day 3’s championship game, it should be his passing that makes him special. Still months away from his varsity debut, Brown excels at passing with either hand. He’s also a strong rebounder for the point guard position.
